My 1st Thumbs Up
I've had my baby since the 16th of Dec 03 and while I've drawn some admiring glances, I've never gotten any overt displays of enthusiasm. But....as I'm tooling home on the interstate from some quality golf driving range time, I notice these two guys in a 80's model Thunderbird pacing me on my left. I glance over to see what's doing and they both have these hugh grins on their faces and are looking the car over from front to back. Then they meet my eyes and both give me a big thumbs up. Made my day for sure!
I guess that sort of thing serves as validation for us and left me with a silly grin of my own.
No big deal but it's my first so thought I'd share.

i hear people always complaining they dont get thumbs up, not saying you dont, but do we as g drivers give other cars the thumbs up? Maybe its karma or something because i really dont ever remember giving a thumbs up the other finger yes but not a thumb.

It depends on the car...... I do give others thumbs up! i.e. They are driving the new Lotus Elise around were I live, I give them the thumbs up!
I think the Ford Mustang Cobras a hot car, I don't give them thumbs up.
I demand respect from other G-coupes as there are two or three in my area. Its still a rare sight to see another coupe around here!

I don't get as many "thumbs up" as I used to. Although, I still get the "stares" and the pacing thing that you mentioned, almost everytime I go out.
My best one so far, was when I was sitting at a red light, about the fourth car in line, in the slow lane. I noticed that there wasn't a car next to me on my left, but in my mirror, the lane was backed up five cars behind me. So, I glance over, and inching up very slowly, are two old farts, in suits, driving a Q45. They were practically hanging out of the car, checking out my coupe, wearing huge smiles with the thumbs up. I thought it was funny.

I get a good amount of stares where I live in NJ. But the real responses are when I am in NYC. I hate taking my car into NYC with its super sh*tty roads, but whenever I am there, mad people always say "nice car" to me and stuff like that. And when I take my car to a garage, most of the time, valet asks me about my car and compliments on how nice it is. I don't need to receive these comments as I really love my car and I know I made the right decision for myself, but I appreciate it when people just come out and compliment the vehicle.
Oh yeah, and when I do see a hot car on the road, I try to give the driver a thumbs up (unless I am far away because I don't want them to think I might be giving them the finger!!).
