People stop saying that every 05+ 6MT has the oil consumption problem...

NOT TRUE

I have an 05 5at Love it to death, but I have an APracing BBK on it. It is pricey, the G already has one of the shortest stopping distance from 60mph compared to other sports cars. Why buy an older car? Get something newer, more warranty, less creaks and unnecessary vibrations. If you have oil consumption you will get a new engine. My roommate has an 03, thing always has problems with the little things. Currently he has a car cover over it because his window wont roll up. lol its funny... but sad at the same time. I hate to see a G sick.

As for Brembo pads and rotors: when I had to get my brakes done I put on Hawk HP street pads and slotted rotors and while they are essentially dust and noise free, they don't quite bite as hard as the stock pads/rotor.

Now, this should not be surprising: the stock pads dust like crazy which means they are very soft and the rotors last through 1 set of pads which means they are very soft. Together, this combo provides for incredible stopping power at the cost of a high rate of wear.
I have a similar setup as you (Hawk Pads, Slotted Rotors) and I think the stopping power is better than what came with the stock brembo calipers. Did you upgrade you r brake lines?

No, I've run stainless lines in the past and never noticed much difference. Besides, the pedal feel is pretty good with the Brembos as is. I may eventually go that route next brake job, but the Hawk pads seem to last like crazy comapred to OEM.

My analysis is purely subjective--I could be wrong since both set-ups stop so well. It just seemed like the soft OEM pads and rotors stopped a bit better to me.

18 horsepower?

You're forgetting the more important figure - only 260 lb/ft of torque in the '05 revup as opposed to 270 in the '04 non revup.

And people always wonder why a G coupe with 18 more hp can't seem to win a drag race...

easier to upgrade the brakes than upgrade the interior.

the old interior looked exceptionally cheap compared to the '05+

the maintenance costs of stock pads and rotors which have shown to be superior in terms of stopping power has to be considered. if you want to stop well then just consider the extra cost in maintenance.

warranty and resale value is something to consider as well. also, consider the interior design so far as ease of resale later on.

at optimum though I think '06 is where the bucks are at. with the sport front and sport sides + headlights and tail lights it is the most "up to date" model and has a lot of great amenities.

oh and the drive trains are basically the same regardless of who wants to tel you theirs has higher peak torque or higher peak HP. at the end of the day these two cars are comparable and I don't think any verified testing has showed a big difference between the two at the end of the day.

comparing of 1/4 mile times and 0-60 times will prove this to be true.

Yeah the Hawk's for whatever reason last a really long time. And I love the fact they do not put out alot of brake dust.

My 07 coupe came with Michelin Pilot Sport Tires...maybe because the Tire and Wheel package was one of the options in my G.

NOTE: I have smoked every stock, 05, 06 and 07 that has ever challenged me in my 04 so don't believe the hype. The 04 is a little lighter and has more torque, many have tried and failed. The +10 torque more than makes up for the 18HP and the chance to accidentally buy an 05 oil burner.

what he said!!

my 03 G coupe 6mt is awesome. interior is not as great but its good enough for waht i want it to do! my only gripe about my car is that the shifting is really hard. you gotta really click it in. rev-matching to 2nd is real tricky. i cant seem to get it right.
