Hey I just bought my g35 coupe today and I noticed that whenever i turn off the car the engine rattle for a second. Do you guys hear that in your cars too? Thanks for the help!

 

Little more info would help out a LOT. What year? 6MT?

 

i too am getting this noise when turning off the car. Dealer told me not to worry that it was just a throw out valve of the clutch or sumting like that. Then it started rattling while i was idling. Dealer told me to bring it in when i can recreate the sound, a sound that only happens sometimes, before the will put it up on the lift to check it out

its not the engine, it is the trans. try putting in the clutch at turn off, and i guarantee you will have no sound. it is common. i can guess without him telling, that it is a 6mt.

 

I assumed it was a 6MT as well but I wanted to make sure. Most likely just the throw out bearing and nothing to worry about.

 

My throw out bearing makes that noise as well... I usually leave my car in gear so I almost always have the clutch depressed when I turn off the engine so I don't hear the sound

Try holding the clutch down and shut the engine off; is it quiet now?

 

Reading this thread makes me feel a lot better! I have an 05 6MT with only 13k miles and I've been hearing this exact same noise for quite some time now.

 

yeah when you push the clutch in the sound is gone
