I had the dealer put mine on free of charge last week. But I just noticed that they didn't bother to put the heat shield on. It was in the bottom of the bag with the removed parts. Is the heat shield needed?

 

it's not going to kill anything. but you probably aren't getting the performance increase without it.

The heatshield isn't the best design but it definatly helps keep out some of the hot air.

You could always put in on yourself. It should take about 15 minutes (excluding time on putting on these friggin' rubber heat shield parts).
