Re: Loan? Credit Card?
What do you need the 15k for? Do you really want to be 18 owing $41k? That's a crappy way to start an adult life. Don't live beyong your means. Borrow as little as possible. Enjoy what you have now. Owing money, credit card bills; they're all a death spiral. You're too young to get started in all that. You got your car. Be happy. Don't waste the rest of your teen years and 20's slaving away to pay for something you couldn't afford to buy in the first place.
If you're gonna spend that kind of money, spend it on an education, or a life experience; like a trip. Don't spend it on a car, that you use to get to work, that you work at to pay for your car, that you use to get to work, that you work at to pay for your car...

Re: Loan? Credit Card?
Hey bro...lol My car is in the body shop.. I need to get it fixed.. this is the only way i can.. the more it stays there, the more money i lose.. im spending like $600/mo for car and $400/mo for insurance for every month its there. I dont care about the loans, i'll pay them all of in a year or two.. but now i got no choice.
Re: Loan? Credit Card?
What kind of repair could possibly cost $15K, just curious? I can't even imagine being 18 and being able to afford much more than dinner and a movie 3 times a month. Unless I was a stripper I guess.

Hey 2fast,
I don't think the other posters have read your other posts. It looks like you are in a bad situation, and you are just trying to find a way out of it.
If you decide to get a loan, I would not apply at a bunch of places. I would apply somewhere that has liberal lending policies (read charges lots of interest). The reason I would not apply at a bunch of places is that excessive credit applications can damage your credit. I realize that is probably not the priority right now, but I would keep it in mind.
There is a good chance you will need a cosigner for that kind of loan. Can a friend or family member do that for you?
Unless you have a cosigner or excellent credit, I doubt you will be able to get the loan. But then again, I don't work for a bank. I could be wrong...
If no other solution presents itself, you might consider renting a car. Or how about buying a cheap ($400) motorcycle?
Good luck,
Dave

Re: Loan? Credit Card?
2fast...I feel your pain...but calm down.
you can get a small loan, lets say for argument sake $2,500.
go out and buy a beater that you can use as you save for your repairs on the G...
If you say you can spring for about $3,000 a month it should be ok...
even with insurance for your second car, which I might add may bring your cost for insurance down because :
A) your insuring two cars which gets you a discount
B) you now list your G as your 2nd car so the rate should drop on that a considerable amount
and even with the storage charges,.....you would still be ahead of the game...
this way you don't go way over your head in debt, you can still keep paying on your cars loan and at the same time stockpile your cash for your repairs....just another suggestion by someone who is not in your shoes...Just keep a calm head an everything shall prevail....2old4this

Re: Loan? Credit Card?
I would definately say you will NOT be able to get a loan and definately 15k worth of credit. Unless you have some significant collateral you will be applying for an unsecured loan which is one of the hardest type of loans to get. Your best bet seems to be a co-signer. Good luck.
