Had trouble passin a V8 explorer..WTF???

Ya know ive been on this forum for while and my favorite threads are when guys tell there stories about racing and beating other cars..last week some guy from Cali with minor mods said he beat an 2003 M3 (impossible)..most recent some guy said he beat a porche..and i hear others too like S2000, Ford Mustang GT ect..which comes to my delima filled question..if the G35C is fast enough to take on these class of cars then why is it that i was almost embarresed yesterday by a 2002 V8 ford explorer?? It was a wise *** chick who was flying down the street..i had a car infront of me turning at the red light ..when the car infront of me went the Ford was about 1.5 car lengths infront of me and i gave it all my G had and too my dissapointment i had a hard time gaining on her and took me up to about 65mph to to pass her...the ford is 240hp 0-60 in 8.0 sec..i just dont get it!!!! I should have blown her away but it just didnt happen..and yes i know how to drive....especially manual..

If she was passing you already then she had the momentum and was in her power band already. You just needed time to catch up. Trucks have a lot of torque too so pickup is very good on them, but the top end is where they hurt. If you had two equal cars and one was flying and passing you, you would never be able to catchup.

I've passed cars that I know were faster then me but they could not pass me since I had the jump on them. same goes for slower cars that ripped past me and I had a difficult time catching up. It's all who has the jump, that is a huge advantage.

How fast were you going when you decided to drop hammer?Did you downshift into 2nd gear?

Say you were in 6th gear 2k rpm .. and decided to floor it.. It really wouldn't have given you any real punch would it?

Shark, don't feel bad, I owned a V6 version of the Exploder a few years ago and they have get up and go! I used to play around with ppl on the street and they would be surprised how fast the truck would go. After all, I believe they have torquing mustand engines in them. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am! =)

2 G or NOT 2 G, there is no question!
