What Should I buy for my 2003 G35 Coupe
right now im driving a 2007 VW GLI (2.0 fsi turbo). Im buying the G35 from a family member and its hard to even compare to my current car. ya the GLI is fast but its a little bitch car compared to the G35. i havent been able to top out the GLI but i have gotten it to around 128-130. I had to slam on the breaks as the radar went off. there was a clueless cop about a mile up.
I've had my G up to 135 with plenty left for it to go and I have the base suspension and there was no problem at that speed. I was just on a highway that is pretty strict with speed limits so I wasn't tryin to test my luck. You'll love the G. Its a sweet car all around. Definitely start with intake and exhaust though. I think the G's look sick stock so I didn't do anything except for tint and wheels for looks. But the wheels really set it off and give it a whole new look so I would recommend getting some if you are considering that option. They are expensive though and you can get a lot of bolt on upgrades with the money instead. Really though if you're gonna stay NA you're car isn't gonna be very fast. I pretty much have every popular NA upgrade you can get and its a pretty fast car but there are plenty faster out there. For NA mods I would do 1. intake 2. exhaust 3. MD plenum spacer (AAM spacer is also good) 4. Test pipes/high flow cats 5. Y-pipe if not already replaced by exhaust. Once you're kinda done with a few NA mods I would recommend an AAM(Altered Atmosphere) ECU Flash . I haven't done mine yet but I think it should really give me some decent gains because I am running very lean with all the air system mods.
ya i know what you mean about keeping the exterior pretty stock. Ive pretty much cancelled out a body kit because i dont want to be too worried about going over a speed bump. I was thinking tinted tails, wheels, and tinted windows. my friend bought the AAM true duel exhaust with a 3 inch pipe and is having to change no because, of the loss of back pressure. What type of exhaust do you think? i was thinking a 2.5 inch pipe with a 3 inch lip but im still not sure. but ya definetly intake. How do you like the rest of your mods
The AAM true dual w/ 3" piping would be a better choice for a FI set up, im guessing your friend is NA. 2.5" piping is the easiest and probably the best way to go with an NA set up. True dual will give you better flow. Mine actually isn't true dual and if I ever go FI I will probably change it. I have the Greddy SP2 system and I love it. I love the tone and it sounds awesome. Its a nice low pitch and sounds sick when you really get on it. Personally im willing to take the maybe 2 hp loss not being true dual cuz I love the sound. I also really like my AEM intake. Its expensive but it actually takes the filter out of the engine compartment unlike most of the other set ups. I like all of my mods and have felt an improvement in them. I do have to get an ECU flash though because at this point like I said I am running very lean so I'm definitely not getting all of the extra performance out of my mods. The MD plenum spacer was a nice mod too and you can find plenty of info including dyno numbers on it if you search the forum.
you will begin to realize that it is a money pit, it will get you nothing in the longrun. just get stuff that you want for yourself not what other people want or like. example i get a sirius and ipod adapter and hks exhaust and some new bulbs, that was nearly 2 grand right there not even counting gas or anything, i have to fill up twice a week and my fill up cost is 55$
No doubt it is a money pit. I agree with him ^, dont feel the need to go with all kinds of mods. I like what i've done with my car and im just giving you my opinion on the parts I like. Make your G just that and do what you want with it
i just got my 03 coupe aswell about a month ago
so far i already bout a carbon fiber hood
injen cold air intake
tinted my windows
got 2 JL subs running with the stock deck
got a black roof overlay
and rims are on back order
i kept the stock exhaust cuz i hate the loud drone of the exhaust on long highways
but the interior seems to be pretty sound proof thats my next mod
i got the hood first cuz there's 2 many g35's around and wanted something that stands out
i havent ever seen one with a carbon fiber hood yet so im pretty happy

There a long straight highway road in ohio that just got paved and it is out in the midddle of no where. Why i bring it up is that it is slightly downhill. This seems like a perfect place to find out what you could get the G to. The hill+the newly paved road seems pefect. Ill get my Gcoupe in june then, im headin straight for that spot haha

ya somthing must be pissing off all the vette guys because i was behind my friend who was driving a tahoe, and this red vette pulls up to him for some random reason and starts cutting him off. my friend cut off the vette and he flew right by and slid around the roundabout
