Bad Paint

Can someone please give me advice on how I could help my paint.

I bought my G in February (actually drove it home in the snow) but that's besides the point I just washed my car for the first time yesterday and I noticed my 06 black paint is full of white specs I'm not sure if it's wax or chips but needless to say I'm pissed. What I'm thinking is that they are a combination of road pebbles chipping my front bumper and wax residue on the rest of my car. I could be completely wrong but that's my impression. So standing back a few feet you can't even notice it but once you get close and start to look at the paint you see it's not perfect. I've never owned a black car before so is this normal? If I was to have the car buffed or detailed would that help? Would using a clay bar be helpful in my situation? Either way she still looks sexy. Thanks for any help.

PS I've been reading this forum for quite some time now so i did search before posting this and didn't find anything useful with the terms "paint issues" or "paint chip".

The newer Japanese cars for the most part all have very soft paint.

What your seeing is all the accumulated chips from driving on the roads with sand/pebbles/debris.

Repaint the bumper, and have a clear bra installed. Probably the only way to stop most or all of the crap that hits and chips the paint on the roadways.

Good luck

those white specs, it's the clear coat showing through. get the paint/pen touch up paint to make them disappear. claying/buffing will not help you.

you could go with the clear bra or do what I did...get 3 coats of black urethane sprayed..single stage/no clear..black through out, no more white
specs coming through

So the general consensus is that i need a new/better paint job. I plan on installing an aftermarket front bumper/grill so I guess my best strategy would be to get the entire car spayed. Is there any special clear coat that should be quoted with a new paint job or is it all the same?

Thanks for the help everyone.

For anyone interested in the clear bra I found this site:

Am I the only one that noticed he's had this '06 OB Coupe and he hasn't
washed it in a year? I quote " I just washed my car for the first time yesterday!" Roc, are you confused or did you really go a whole year without
washing your coupe? You don't need advice, you need HELP!

Need a clear bra....?

Most tint shops (reliable ones) also install clear bras, like california tint.

Quality clear bras installed by knowledgeable installers aren't noticable or
you'll never know it's on my car! Repainting the hood and bumper will cost
more than a (quote) a few bucks! Depending on where you go it
will cost you between $800 & $1200 to get the job done right! I paid $600
just to get my Kuruma Z bumper painted inside/out....but it was done right!

Our paint absolutely blows. In my opinion, it is the single most deficient aspect of the entire car.

The clearcoat is thin, and the paint chips and scratches far too easily. The worse paint I've ever had on any car, with ease. The front end of my car looks like it lost in a head-to-head battle with an army of shotguns and buckshot, and I hardly even drive on the highway and wax my car religiously.
