Few questions about '06 G35 Coupe

Hey, I'm a new person on these forums and am curious about a few things about the g35 coupe. Im thinking about getting a used '06 coupe so.....

1. Is there adequate head-room for someone who is 6'4'' w/ sunroom?? (I like to sit pretty low and rather far away from the wheel). I'm talking drivers seat and rear seats here.

2. Are there any common mechanical issues that g35 coupes have?

3. I live in NY, so we do get a decent amount of snow. With snow tires, how does the RWD coupe perform?

4. Out of 10, 1 being the worst, how would you rate the g35? (please be unbiased)

5. What type of sound does the stock exhaust have? (clean? low? etc).

6. How would you describe the cabin noise?

Thanks for all your input, I would have a test drive, but its scheduled for much later so i'm just eager to know

Scheduling a test drive? Just go to a dealership and say you were interested and want to drive one.

Maybe...do the seat mod for tall people, where u can lower it.
2. Are there any common mechanical issues that g35 coupes have?
not really...some rattles, on 6mt's they are known for burning oil, but don't let that change ur mind if u want a 6mt. If your car burns oil they will replace the engine.
3. I live in NY, so we do get a decent amount of snow. With snow tires, how does the RWD coupe perform?
I dont live where it snows

5. What type of sound does the stock exhaust have? (clean? low? etc).
low/swarm of bees...best sound ever!!! TEST DRIVE
6. How would you describe the cabin noise?
way too loud for a luxury car

I'm 6'1" and I'm comfortable in the vehicle. My seat is all the way back (I think) and all the way down and I have about 1-2" above my head so you SHOULD be fine. However, if you're not fine and need another inch or so, there's a do-it-yourself modification that lowers the seat an inch or so (I haven't done it yet, but plan to because I like to be as low in the car as possible to get the best road feel )

2. Are there any common mechanical issues that g35 coupes have?

My car is still practically new (1700 miles) so I wouldn't really be able to answer your question for you really, but 2005-2007 6-speed G35's with the REV-UP motor have oil consumption issues to the point where Infiniti even decided to release a TSB on them and replace them under warranty if the oil consumption was bad enough. I'm hoping my car doesn't turn out to be one of those oil burners.

3. I live in NY, so we do get a decent amount of snow. With snow tires, how does the RWD coupe perform?

RWD, ~300hp, 6mt With a really good set of snow wheels/tires, you'll probably be alright. But this car is DEFINITELY not made with snow driving in mind. The VDC (traction control) helps to a certain extent but at the end of the day (in the snow especially) it's more annoying than it is useful (constant cutting of throttle and automatic brake application gets annoying pretty quick in my opinion.)

4. Out of 10, 1 being the worst, how would you rate the g35? (please be unbiased)

As far as other cars in it class goes, I'd rate the G35 pretty high on that scale. 7.5-8/10 I guess?

5. What type of sound does the stock exhaust have? (clean? low? etc).

I love the sound of the stock exhaust. I wish it was a little bit louder though, but it sounds very classy and clean. There's a couple of mods out there that will make the stock sound a bit louder (test pipes, etc.) but I definitely don't want it to be too aggressive.

6. How would you describe the cabin noise?

Not the greatest, not absolute **** either though. With the 19" stock forged Ray's and low profile tires, the road noise is definitely going to be heard, but it's pretty good. My friend has an E46 BMW and has 19's on his car as well with similar tire sizes and they're about the same as far as in-car road noise goes. However, with his stock 16" wheels, the BMW is smooth as butter and quiet as all hell even with aftermarket coil-overs.

Hope I helped!

1. Test drive. You're probably fine as long as you're not wide. The seats are nice and snug, just the way I like them. 500+ mile trips - no problem.

2. as mentioned - revup engine in 6MT may have high oil consumption. If it's going to happen, it should happen within warranty and then you get a brand new engine. Not a bad deal really.

3. If you're a seasoned snow driver, all seasons on stock size 17" wheels will get you by for in town driving. Most will say that snow tires are absolutely necessary. If you do get snow tires, you're definitely good to go.

4. 1,000. Used 06's are a ton of car for the money right now, can't be beat.

5. Low and tuned with a sweet ring that just has to be heard (with the windows down). Nothing in it's price range can touch it.

6. My opinion is it's not that bad. I didn't buy this car to drive Miss Daisey around town so there won't be anyone complaining about a little road noise in my car.
