Dash Rattle
Dash Rattle
A while ago I made a post about a rattle in my dash, behind the cluster. Found it and it was not a rattle, I finally made a connection that the rattle followed the car being washed. Ice was forming at the windshield and making a creaking noise. The back window does the same thing.
I should have figured this out sooner, my Lexus did the same thing, just the sound came from a different spot. Take away this noise and no rattles of creaks. Good news.

Re: Dash Rattle
the water gets under the plastic sill and freezes. The twist of the body causes the ice against the plastic to creak. The last time this happened I took the car into my shop and ran a hair dryer at the base of the windshield to melt the ice and the noise stopped. You will notice when you spray wash your car that a lot of water sits on the plastic sill at the base of the windshield.
On my Lexus, when it snowed and the rear defrost was on, the melting snow would drip down to the trunk lid and freeze again, causing an ice build up. That creak was unbelievable.
