Re: maybe i should drive my g more

6 months with 2500 miles. Daily driver is a blazer. The G is definitely my baby. Everytime i sit in it it has the new car smell. I get it washed every weekened and never drive it in rain, snow, wet days. Maybe its ridiculous but its a great car and a major hobby now since i bought it. I think a lot of other people have made it into a hobby and thats whats cool about it. Maybe its stupid not to drive it in the rain, but i enjoy being able to be proud of something and keeping it nice.

Re: maybe i should drive my g more

I am driving my G on the weekends only and I still managed to put 10K miles in a year. My daily commuter is 95 Camry and I cannot describe enough how boring is to drive that car but what is the point to drive G35 in a stop and go traffic anyway? I put about 50miles a day on camry.

I agree with the comment on the old maxima's...I sold my 1990 Maxima with 201k miles on it...And that isn't counting the 8 months I drove it with the odometer broken..Car ran great, never replaced a single major component in the engine...A 38k investment should not be garaged all the time...My father did this with his 98 Q45, returned it from his 3 year lease with only 12k miles on it...The dealership almost wet their pants, and pops never really broke her in...Damn shame..lol

Had my coupe for almost a year now and just did the first oil change and service at 2900 miles. Mine's also a weekend car and great fun to drive. But the Lexus makes a better daily driver.

Re: maybe i should drive my g more

I bought mine in October and now have close to 15,000 miles on it.

I also bought a Honda Civic HX that I was going to use as a commuter car but I can't seem to bring myself to drive it - even though it does get almost twice the mileage of my G (43 mpg). Every time I do drive it all I can think about is going home and getting my G. Especially when I see another G on the road or I feel like passing somebody. I finally gave up on the Honda and stopped driving it.

I bought the G to drive it so I'm definitely getting my money's worth.

Anybody want to buy a slightly used Honda?

I'm 17. This car IS a Ferrari to me. I only have to drive like 2 miles to my high school anyway. =D

Re: maybe i should drive my g more

Come on guys, this is a car, it is designed and meant to be driven. In fact Ill contend that by not driving it or nursing it so much will likely not extend its life at all. - abusing it will also be detrimental, but driving the car on a regular basis is what it is designed for. By having the car stand for long periods of time, you run the risk of the tires going square, the cooling / water system sludging up, the fuel and injectors etc clogging and the oil congealing. So move on - drive it, enjoy it and live a little.

My 2003 coupe will be 1 year old on 4/14. I have 2,700 miles on it. I only used the windshield wipers one time, when I took delivery on the car--just to make sure they worked. The only time water touches my car is when I wash it!

I drive it at least 4 days a week. I just usually have to go far in it.

I didn't read whole replies but babying our g's are good thing but too much babying is not a great idea... i don't know how rich you guys are, but for me it's impossible to think, pay about 500 a month for a car payment + about 1800 per year for insurrance to drive few thousand miles per year? it's not sooooo worth it to me!!!

Re: maybe i should drive my g more

my daily commute is either 110 or 120 mile round trip (depends which office i go to). my daily is a sentra that avg's around 30mpg.
when i go to one office, i could be in stop and go traffic. other office is open drive. no fun having a MT in bumber to bumper. daily is AT.

took her out today, just love driving it. LOVE it. still have look back effect.

04 6mtC, DG - possibly most babied G on the board.

DragonG, just an advise. Driving your G only 2miles each time is one of the worst things you can do to your G, or to any other car. It's not good for the engine, it needs to warm up to its optimum operating temperature, not for a short period of time only. Much worse if you're doing this in winter.

Re: maybe i should drive my g more

7500 miles in just over a year now (however that includes time my father owned it) Daily driver, commute to work is literally all freeway so MT in traffic isnt a concearn of mine. Kinda wished I had a daily driver just to keep the miles off the G, however, whats the fun in owning one if your not gonna drive it?

Re: maybe i should drive my g more

I know. =( I try not to drive it only 2 miles at a time but in the mornings, thats all I can do... Afterschool I try not to go straight home and cruise around as much as I can. I don't know what to do about the mornings though. =\
