Why is G35 inexpensive
Why is G35 inexpensive
My brother and lots of peeps r telling me that the g35c has a lot to give for only about 30 grand. Is anything about it poorly made or is nissan just trying to satisfy everyone on this planet.
Re: Why is G35 inexpensive
There's a few things that nag people - some people find the dash cheap and some of the plastics have drawn citicism, but overall it is just a damn good value. You get a beautiful grand tourer with a racebred world-class engine. If you have the money, it's a no-brainer!

Re: Why is G35 inexpensive
It's not top to bottom lux. They did cut corners. The door handles and fuel door feel cheap, and the cockpit is not going to be confused with a Jaguar. The center consoles are a bit dated looking, or out-right junky in the case of the "titanium" trim.
But for everything else, the comfort of the seats, the styling, and minor details like, say, what happens when your foot touches the accelerator and you twist the wheel... I paid full sticker and think I got a steal.

Wow.. I don't think there's anything chintzy about it. I suppose it's all in the eye of the beholder. My brother drove my car Saturday and he thought it was a $50K car; he was amazed when I told him it cost less than 35K.

Re: Why is G35 inexpensive
Yea, IMHO, this car is an absolute steal for around $30k. Granted, the dash is a little cheap some say, and there may be a few minor problems here and there, but think about what you're getting for the money. The car is very comfortable, great handling and acceleration, and it looks like it costs about twice what it does. Great car for the money... can't wait till mine arrives!

The only Gs that are selling for 30k are luck SOBs who got big discounts (though I haven't heard of any that big) or people who just got the BASE model which doesn't even have leather.
Re: Why is G35 inexpensive
for me i don't thin that the G is not so inexpensive for people my age. but i think it's very good that it's not so inexpensive.

Re: Why is G35 inexpensive
Its inexpensive because Nissan spent the past 3 years developing the FM (front-midship) platform as well as the new VQ3.5 engine. Now they are using this same engine in SO many of their models. They are also starting to use the FM platform in many of their models.
So basically, nissan is killing 5 birds with one stone, cutting down overall development cost, and therefore lowering the cost to the consumer.
Complaints about the interior are subjective, everyone has their own opinion. I happen to love the interior.

I like the interior too, no complaints and don't know what the perfect interior is supposed to look like. Today I drove my co-worker around, she was fascinated by the silver plastic around the shifter. Nothing big to me, but I'm glad someone appreciates it.

Jaguar goes the other way IMO. The Jag is just basically a Ford with a nice leather interior and wood on the dash. I'd rather pay for performance than wood in the dash any day.
The reason why the G35C price is low is because it's sharing a lot of parts with the other Nissan's. This motor in different states of tune is offered in quite a few of the Nissan/Infiniti's and that helps keep the price down. Being able to share a platform with the 350Z and the sedan helps keep the price down too.

TANSTAAFL-you're getting what you pay for-personally I would have sprung for a bit more $ to avoid the cheap crap. The cost of a car depends primarily on resale. Despite high entry price BMW and MB have great resale and will be overall less expensive in long run. G35c will likely have mediocre resale because of cutting corners on quality.
