Possible Transmission Problem?

Ok, so I searched under every key word(s) I could think of and came up empty. So if this has been discussed, forgive me and you may just point me in the right direction, if not, any help is appreciated.

So the cause for concern is when I press the clutch down in first or second gear (first more so than second) while moving it gives off this higher pitched hum type sound. What could this be and would it be considered a warantee fix?

**** should be under warranty unless they can prove that you grind gears or ride the clutch

what rpms are you doing this at. The more rpms you're at when downshifting the more noise that will be made. If you are just sitting still and you get a hum when putting the car in 1st I have no idea what that is.

It is while I am moving. It happens at any RPM mark as long as I'm moving. It does get louder as I get higher in the RPM's and it does not happen while I am at a stand still.

As for it being under warrantee, I will go and check it out with my dealer. I definitely do not ride the clutch and I sure as hell don't grind gears. I baby my car like you wouldn't believe.

Does anybody have an idea what the EXACT problem is that would cause this (someone that has possibly had this problem)?

maybe a throw out/pilot bearing or something along those lines...but without being able to drive/hear it myself im just guessing really......id just take it to the dealer, no sense in racking your head over it..... either A they will fix it for you, or B they will tell u whats wrong with it, with a quote...but either way u figure out whats wrong with it.... but if your under 70k it should be covered...

Yeah, I am going to go in next weekend to have them check it out. I am way under 70k and I have an extended warrantee so I am covered for sure.

If it's the pilot or throwout bearing on an '04, I can almost guarantee you that it will not be covered under warranty. Clutch components(including bearings) are considered wear items and aren't replaced under the powertrain warranty unless they happen to wear out in the first few thousand miles that the car is owned when it was new... which basically means they were defective from the factory.
