I'm having mine done today. My car is out of warranty but the dealer is doing it out of "good will"..The acutator is $179 through the dealership and should cost around $300 to do total. I just took out an extended warranty as many electrical items do go wrong with the G35.

Hi, All! Newbie here. I have a 2003 G35 coupe with a sticking driver side door lock. I have just ordered the driver side lock actuator from Autozone and have taken down the inside plastic trim so far. Before I take down the metal cover over the window, I am wondering how extensive a job to place the actuator is. She the window be up or down when you take out the metal cover for the window? Can the window motoe and glass be left in place when you do that. I have done searchs and have read most of the posting.

Any comments from anyone who have replaced the lock actuator would be appreciated.

Door Lock

In order to replace the door lock actuator, things that need to be removed: door panel, the large metal center piece, the actual window, the power window assembly, and the door lock actuator. For first timers, it's a pretty labor intensive procedure. For $350 at the dealership that someone quoted, I think it's a fair price to have a professional do it and avoid any distress during of after the procedure is completed. There is info in the service manual on replacing the door lock actuator but it doesn't provide every single detail. You should be able to do a search and find it. The dealership here charges $450. I think the lowest OEM door lock actuator you can get online is about $155 total. GL with the repair.

The part from Grubbs here locally was about $200. I did the swap out on my own. Takes a little time but it is easy.

I think the actuator listed above at http://www.infinitipartsonline.com/p...layCatalogid=0 is for a sedan, right?

I downloaded both manuals for the sedan and coupe and found the attached. Seems that the actuator on the sedan is a separate module, and the actuator for the coupe is part of the lock mechanism. I suppose that is why the actuator for the coupe is ~$140 vs $100.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. Mine went out yesterday and I need to order the right part.
