Update: the tech took it for a drive with me and said it was louder than what he has heard in the past. They are replacing my flywheel under warranty and asked me if i wanted to buy a clutch since everything has to come apart anyway. Is it worth upgrading to a nismo clutch?
It's the throw out bearing. I got this all the time...not sure if I still have it since I haven't payed attention to it, or got use to it.

What he said. If your at a stop idling, and you push in the clutch, you should/will hear a low pitch growl. If that's the case, its the throw out bearing. That is the weakest link in a manual trans set up.
Don't know how many I replaced over the years in all my manual cars......
Trick is, do not ride the clutch pedal.....this puts a small amount of pressure on the throw out bearing, and in time will dry it out causing the whinning/growl you are hearing now.
Good luck
