AWD Coupe

Has anyone heard if Infiniti plans to release an AWD version of the coupe? I know that the AWD G35 sedan is being released in the next couple of months, however, I am only interested in a coupe and I reside in Indiana, where snow is a constant thorn in my side.

Re: AWD Coupe

Mani,

Actually, I read about the AWD Sedan on this site, but at the sedan forum. In addition, I called the Infiniti dealership in Carmel, IN and my sales consultant confirmed that an AWD sedan is coming out this summer.

Re: AWD Coupe

AWD can be quite a boon in poor weather conditions. Of course, you may counter that one should not be putting their G35C at risk in such a manner. However, my G35C is going to be my primary means of transportation and I will be obliged to drive it in less than ideal weather and road conditions.

AWD is tricky to launch as effectively as non-AWD. Additionally, a "good" launch with an AWD vehicle is generally not so great for your tires or transmission. I used to own an Eclipse GSX and the turbo charger coupled with AWD made for lots of bog and playing catch up in stoplight wars. Of course, I am no longer engaging in such nefarious activities, and do not intend to race at the track or on the street with my G35C. To each his own...

Re: AWD Coupe

Was your Eclipse GSX an automatic. I was always able to ge a large jump off the light in my Eagle Talan AWD Turbo (manual). I'd leave Mustangs siting like chickens. There nothing like being able to rev the engine way up and let the cluch pop out..... and have all 4 tires stick.

I would love a G35C AWD supercharged. Manual of course.

Re: AWD Coupe

Yeah i dont know why you guys are complaining about AWD...usually they are easier to launch because its so much tougher to spin the tires as opposed to a RWD car...AWD does not hurt acceleration man, not in a front engine config, besides, nissan doesnt use 4WD, they use AWD meaning its full-time RWD but when you need it, the awd will kick in automatically, maybe there will be a button to disable, like VDC??? anyone been inside the murano awd or fx45 can comment on this plz?

Re: AWD Coupe

I'm with RamboRami on this one. I've driven Stealth R/T Twin AWD, S4, and Eagle Talon TSi AWD(long, long time ago), and all were very elegent from a dead stop, and with a tiny little bit of practice, very lethel from a dead stop. Not sure why people are complaining about AWD, how could it possible be worse, in any kind of weather? I don't think anyone cares about speculation or envy, but real reasons why AWD in the G35 could possibly be a bad thing.

Re: AWD Coupe

maybe no AWD in the US any time soon, but Japan already has the AWD sedan.

I guess AWD is good for those in the snow, other then that it's heavier. You need to replace all 4 tires if one goes bad and probably sucks up more gas.

Re: AWD Coupe

I had an AWD Eclipse, and when I launched hard the back tires broke loose a little. It was always alot of fun. My Eclipse was a '92 with barely any mods, but I would still be able to keep up with some well tuned FWD cars. Of course I haven't done anything like this with my G35 (looks for lightning in the sky), well there was this time leaving the PALA casino and I pitched the rear out and took off like it was nothing. I'll not do that to often after I found out how much my tires will be costing to replace though, lol.

Re: AWD Coupe

Fastblack,

It was a manual. I have owned only one automatic vehicle, and that was b/c it was not offered with a manual transmission (Lexus SC400). Fun car, but I kind of think of the G35C as an improvment on the design of the SC400. Obviously, totally different manufacturers, but the luxury sport coupe (affordable) genre has reached its zenith (for now) in the form of the G35C for me. A supercharged, AWD G35C would be better, but I am not holding my breath.
