For all the 5AT guys out there

I bought my 03 5AT coupe used and was just wondering how other peoples cars upshift. Mine is like instant. From what I have heard I dont think that is the norm. I am wondering if maybe it has a grounding kit on it that I was not aware of when I purchased the vehicle. Is there any easy way to find out if it does? Any input would be appreciated!

open your hood and look for wires that arent suppose to be there.

Are you referring to when you hit the upshift and how long it takes for it to take affect? There is no rev matching on the 03-04 5at's, in my 05 5at depending on what rpm I am at, it takes a second to rev match.

^+1 They are usually black, brown or red wires that look deff then the rest of the wires.

You'll should be able to spot them.

or post a pic of your engine bay and any one of us can tell you if you have a grounding kit if you can't figure it out yourself.

Ill look and see what I find. To clarify I mean when say shifting from 1st to 2nd my shifts are instant. I can shift right at the redline and have no problem. Just didn't know if this was normal for the 03 5AT cars. The shifts are really fast.

I hate this rain... My sun roof was tilted open so my car is a little wet on the inside.

I have a 03 also and it takes about 500-700 rpms to make the shift. About 1-1.5 seconds to go from gear to gear.

Does a grounding kit really improve the shift time? I thought only a shift kit would improve the shifting.

I drive mine all the time in auto stick mode. I do notice when the car is cold it shifts alot harder/faster but I think thats due to the hydraulics in the tranny.

Thats what I thought the norm was. Cause I have heard a lot of people complain about it. Mine takes no time at all. It is like instant. I can shift it right at redline and not bounce on the rev limiter. It must have something done to it. I think I am going to take some photos.
