G35 for an R32???

Am i crazy for wanting to get rid of my 2003 6MT coupe for a new R32? I love my G, but at times it seems too delicate! Especially in bad weather (snow). I need a car that i can beat up, drive everyday, and not worry so much about. The dealerships i've been talking too are trying to rob me on a trade in. I only have 6000 miles on it since first buying it in August 03. What do you guys think?

Are you talking about the Volkswagon R32 or the Skyline R32? If your talking about the Volkswagon then yes your crazy. If you want something you can drive all year buy a WRX or an STI but don't get the styleless VW Golf.

IMHO i don't think that the VW R32 is Styleless. It has the classic Golf/GTI shape that has defined their company for many years. If you haven't had the chance yet, i suggest you sit and test drive one. I did test drive the STI..and i loved it too, but i don't like sedans.

Re: G35 for an R32???

i looked at the vw r32 and could not understand how vw is sellling that car for 29k. It looks jlike an eco-box and in stock form does not come close to most of the performance car in the 30k area. For less than 20k i can understand but in the 29k area its competing against g35, bwm 3 series, rx-8, etc... IMO based on the specs and looks it competes favorably against the neon srt4 and should be priced accordingly.

Am I missing something?

I agree, but i think the price constitutes the innovative Vr6 engine and 4motion. Plus all of the cars you mentioned e.g. Neon, Mazda are either domestics or from Japan. Remember VW is a German vehicle so the price is always higher!

Oh yeah..i forgot to add that only 5000 R32's will come to the US, so it's a specialty car with limited production. Still though, it is too much $$$.

G35 for R32? Are you out of your mind? Let's say the R32 indeed out performs the G35. Even if that's true I wouldn't touch a VW with a 100 foot pole. I'm trying to sell a very low mileage '96 VW Jetta for a friend and it's such a POS it's not even funny. It actually died in a carwash right before a potential buyer is about to come for a test drive!
Why would you trade one of the most stylish cars on the street (G coupe) made by a reliable nameplate (Infiniti) for something that looks like a high-end econobox (R32) made by a nameplate with reliablility problems up the butt (VW)? If you don't believe VW has reliability problems, go pickup a Consumer Report to see for yourself.

Re: G35 for an R32???

Buddy relax...people can have choices you know! I still have my G, but i was just entertaining the thought. Besides the R32 is a limited addition. Where i live, G35's are seen everywhere...old women, old men, highschool kids, etc. It's no longer a stand out car thats all. Performance, thats just a clever marketing tool. Think about it. All of us mostly drive between 0-60 on a daily basis. If we attempt to drive faster, we risk getting tickets and even worse taking lives. You're right though th G35 is pure quality 100%.

Sorry if I came across a little intense.. It's just that I really hate VWs right now from trying to sell my friend's Jetta. I used to like them, but nothing changes your opinion on a brand like a little unreliability.

Re: G35 for an R32???

Consider yourself downgrading. If i were to get a GTi i would also think aabout the STI or EVO. They are the better bang for the buck. Who cares about a 5000 production car. Watch in a few years they are going to relese more. Style and performance wise they are not as good as the G. THe G has more of a class look.

Re: G35 for an R32???

Yeah.. thats my point. I do not mind the downgrade..i need to save money. Plus i think the R32 is more of a daily driver that can deal with bad weather. Plus worrying about my coupe when i go out is becoming tiresome. It's too attractive. I test drove the STI and loved it , but i hate sedans.
