Wait or Not?

Well, I originally planned on purchasing my G35C in June or July, but someone told me to wait until september when the 2005 version comes out, because it might have some good changes.. I just wanted to know what everyone thinks i should do and what you guys think will change in the '05.

Word is a massive asteroid will strike the Earth sometime in late August.
When you see the blazing tail in the sky streaking towards you, your final thought will be of deep regret that you did not buy the G when you had the chance...

Me on the other hand will be laughing maniacally while doing donuts and power drifts amidst a cloud of burning rubber... (whoo-hoo!!)

Re: Wait or Not?

if u wait a few months, you'll be able to resell the 05 for more than an 04 down the road....
i dont know if thats worth it for you.

other than that, there are not going to be major differences...
case in point....NY auto show
if it was going to be changed, infiniti would have it make an appearance....

but its up to you!

Re: Wait or Not?

I was in the same boat as far as 03 or wait for 04. I don't care about resell value because I am never selling my first gen G35....

As far as headlight changes...thats nonsense. I say buy now.

just a question relating to this. the '04 altima's refreshening---was this debuted at any auto show? Maybe I was totally out of the loop, but my first discovery of the interior/exterior change was pics on this forum. Then several weeks later I saw Nissan commercials.

Therefore, all these RUMORS are just for a "refreshening", not a major "redesign", so the car might not need a high-profile debut.

Regardless...if you're driving a paid off car, and can wait, then you should. More money to save for a good downpayment.

Re: Wait or Not?

The longer you keep your car, the smaller the difference will be in resale value between the 04 and 05.

I'm guessing you can buy a 04 right now for a song and you'll pay close to sticker for the 05 for the first 5 months they are available.

So, if you can buy one now for let's say, $2,000 less than an 05, and you keep it for 4 years, the difference in resale will be, let's say 10%. Well, 10% of $18k is $1800 so assume that's what the 04 will be worth, less. As you can see, the numbers are negligible.

If you buy one now, you can be driving one all summer long and into the fall. If you wait you will not be driving it all summer long but you will get to drag out the anticipation and buying process even longer.

Personal preference. As soon as I saw the coupe, I knew I couldn't wait. It took me 5 days.

Re: Wait or Not?

There's always going to be something shinier, faster, bigger, better, whatever coming out tomorrow. It all depends on how long you want to wait... just don't wait forever and deprive yourself.

Re: Wait or Not?

Another thing to take into consideration is that if you buy a 2004 now as apposed to a 2005 a few months later, You will have a lower milage 04 which always helps on resale.

Re: Wait or Not?

Personally, if you can wait, I would at least wait til there's some news of the changes to see if they are important to you. However, if you are happy with the way the car is today (and I am quite happy with mine) and you can get a good deal, there's no reason why you shouldn't buy it now and enjoy it. The rumored changes are just a refresh and not a complete redesign. One benefit of getting it now is knowing that all the DIY guides out there will work for your car :P
