HELP! Tranny Problem?

I just recenty leaseed a G35 Coupe with the Sports and Aero packages. I must say that I'm rather dissappointed at the way the car's automatic trasmission changes gears.

Specifically, if I am starting from parked, and I floor the gas pedal, the car hesitates for what seems like a few seconds, the RPMs got to about 3500, then the RPMs abruptly jump to 6500 as it finally realizes it has to downshift. By the way, unless I ease of the pedal, the RPMs will stay at the 6000 range for a while before up-shifting again.

Similar problem occurs when I'm trying to aggressively speed up from about 35MPH to 70MHP: The car sluggishly speeds up, the RPMs seem to get stuck around 4000 for a few seconds, and then abruptly jumps to about 6500RPM.

Am I doing something wrong?

FYI - The car has about 1K miles on it and I use premium gas. Any help is sincerely appreciated.

i think the owners manual says not to do exactly what youre doing, considering the fact that you have only 1k on your car...
wait til 1500 and try it again...
or go to your dealer and do it infornt of them and see what they say...
the car might have to "break in"

Re: HELP! Tranny Problem?

Try doing an ECU/TCU reset to eliminate any 'granny' memories. ECU RESETS

Also if you floor the gas from a standstill, the traction control will take over and limit wheelspin by killing power. To get a good start, you have to turn off the VDC. Be careful tho, turning it off will eliminate all it's benefits, resulting in an unsafe condition.

Good luck with the new ride.

I'm expericing the same problem as you are. I simply hate the abrupt sudden power delivery after you stab the gas pedal from a slower speed. If you were to try the g35 sedan, they have a more linear power delivery. I'm quite dissapointed.

This happened to me today. I have an appointment to bring my car into the dealer next week and I will update you on their findings next week. I hope its just an ECU reset..
