Yah so I went to the Stealership 2day to look at a few G35's...haha and the car salesmen tried convincing me that An Automatic is faster then a Manual....haha at that point I just walked away...That can't possibly be true......right???

If both drivers are racing in reverse...........them maybe.

 

in a track situation with your average driver, the AT is faster than the MT...

in a straight line? no way.

with experienced drivers? no way.

JOKER remember that yes the 6MT has more up top but has less down low... i say its about even if both good drivers

 

yeah and the Auto also has a big fat LAG that comes as a package deal with a tranny.

997 911 turbo automatic is faster than the MT.

 

My favorite is when guys get super defensive about their automatic trannies and start arguing about how they're always in manual mode, and how that's just as good as having a 6MT.

 

automatic, cruising ftw.

 

in a lot of cases automatics are in fact faster than manuals

but in the case of the g35 with the revup motor and the close ratio 6 speed...a good driver should have zero problems pulling away from the automatic.

the auto would probably be better for launching however since you can just load up the torque converter and then let of the brake when you want to launch
