Mt. Fuji or parallel lines to infiniti??
is the Infiniti symbol supposed to look like Mt. Fuji, or is it 2 parallel lines going to infiniti (looking from behind)??
i hear everyone calling it Mt. Fuji. is this what Nissan intended cause it looks like 2 lines going to infiniti and the make is called Infiniti!?
...just a thought

Re: Mt. Fuji or parallel lines to infiniti??
I'd read about the parellel lines thing long ago, but read an article (I think it was in NYT or WSJ) about the company, and a company interviewee had mentioned "Mt.Fuji" in reference to the logo. He could've just been speculating, as well, but that's the solid source I've seen.

Re: Mt. Fuji or parallel lines to infiniti??
Ive always seen it as a view looking down a highway. The two lines in the middle are the outsides of the road and they get smaller as they go up, kind of like a road when looking down a perfectly straight highway. Always had to do with the whole "drivers car" persona of Infiniti as well.

Re: Mt. Fuji or parallel lines to infiniti??
I hear the president of Infiniti likes Pac-Man... it's a Pac-Man symbol.
;-) Just kidding...
It's supposed to represent a fighter pilot's goggles... in homage to Infiniti's commitment to high performance.
Nah... I just made that up ;-)
It's a pie with a slice missing... which is symbolic of Infiniti's desire to get a big slice of the luxury car segment pie (from BMW, Benz, Acura etc.)
;-) Okay... it's not that either, lol...
...but seriously, the best symbols and the most succesful icons are representative of multiple ideas, as well as being aesthetically pleasing graphically... which is what makes the good ones so clever. So it could be both a stylized road converging to infinity (which is what I've always thought) AND Mount Fuji... both at the same time.
For example, look at Acura's symbol... it is actually the Honda "H" with the two tips converging at the top, but it's also supposed to be a draftsman's compass, which represents precision in engineering/ design.
Our symbol is also a good graphic representation of the brand's harmony between luxury and performance. The icon communicates the balance between luxury (the oval) with performance/ engineering (the point) -- which is what Infiniti (as a brand) is all about.

Re: Mt. Fuji or parallel lines to infiniti??
I thought it was a slick infinity sign. Then I found out it was supposed to be Mt. Fuji? I love it though.
If our cars were badged Nissan (NO offense meant) I would be a tad angry. Infinity is one of the few emblems I like, and I think it fits the car very well.

It's looking down the lane of a highway, and illusions to it being infinite.
The Acura symbol is a very clever one. It's an H that has been squished together at the top. It's also a compass which denotes accuracy, and I would assume the name Acura is derived from the word accurate.

Re: Mt. Fuji or parallel lines to infiniti??
well i think the infiniti logo is made as a mixture between the actual sideways figure 8 sign for the never ending infinity and adding mt fuji in at the same time to give it a little twist.

i think the idea of Mt.Fuji is very cool...but since i was a little kid...it looked like a damn wheel of cheese to me... uncool nissan uncool. I think honestly...before the ricers...Acura has a cool logo...it looks aggressive...i hate nissan (looks like a damn hamburger...pretty lame), mazda and Oldsmobile, yuck!

Re: Mt. Fuji or parallel lines to infiniti??
Wasn't there a different Infiniti emblem when the automaker first started out? They had some big filigree symbol that they slapped on the nose of the Q45 I think?
It was when they started using those commercials without a car and just showed nature scenes of leaves blowing across the street. I couldn't find any pictures to post...

I like the infinite hiway thing. Isn't the chrysler logo pretty cool for an until recently lamo brand? I like it and the Maserati the best.
