What makes an aero kit an aero kit?

I have seen posts that say "full aero kit". I have the spoiler and diffusers. What am I missing? The front spoiler?

i dont even know what an air diffuser looks like and where its installed, but it can not be ordered separate from the aero kit or full aero kit... it comes with them as a package. and i heard the rear deck spoiler and chin spoiler is useless without the air diffusers. each spoiler comes with 1 underbody air diffuser (or pair)

You can order the under body diffusers, someone on here did about a month ago, I remember seeing pictures of what they looked like right outta the box. Do a search, it was definatly in the coupe forum.

So the Diffesers that came with my spoiler in the aero package are not all of the diffusers? There is an additional diffuser wuth the lip spoiler?

Re: What makes an aero kit an aero kit?

If you got the seven or 800 dollar aero kit (can't remember exactly), you did not get the front chin or the rear underbody diffuser but you got the rear spoiler, so your car is not "zero lift" in the rear but has the .27 coefficent or drag. If you got the $1200 Aero kit, you got the chin and the rear diffuser and your car is zero lift.

You can buy the chin for about $300 on the bottom from Grubbs right now.

....or something like that.

I don't think that is correct.
The package that most cars have is the factory rear spoiler which includes the rear under body diffusers. This is the package the lowers the drag and has 0 lift.
The other package adds the front lip spoiler and splash guards to the above. I am not aware of any additional under body diffuser that comes with the front lip spoiler package nor does it have any additional effect on drag or lift.

Re: What makes an aero kit an aero kit?

^^^^ My window sticker says aero kit( rear sspoiler ad diffusers). The splash guards were an extra $200.00 on the window sticker. So if I add the front lip spoiler is that a complete aero kit or is there another diffuser? Sorry for the repetitive questions.

Re: What makes an aero kit an aero kit?

I don't think you can trust the website. I swear there are two aero packages (at least there was a month ago). One had ALL underbody diffusers, chin spoiler, rear spoiler and it was around $1200. The other was $550 and did not have the chin spoiler or the FULL set of underbody diffusers.

Another example of the incorrect website is the Bose Wattage. My sticker and brochure says 225 watts.

Needless to say, ONE of them is wrong...the web or the brochure. Of course, they could have changed the packages throughout the year and both could be wrong today.

Re: What makes an aero kit an aero kit?

Here's what Edmunds says, and is in line with my purchasing experience one month ago:

V92 Aero Kit w/Rear Spoiler
Includes front chin spoiler, rear spoiler and front and rear body-colored splash guards. NOT AVAILABLE with R01, B94, V93.
This one is $1190.

V93 Aero Kit w/o Rear Spoiler
Includes front chin spoiler, rear spoiler and front and rear body-colored splash guards.
$600

R01 Aero Package
Includes rear spoiler and underbody aerodynamic side fairings. REQUIRES W02.
$550 (W02 is the Performance Wheel pkg by the way).

Also,
"Coefficient of drag 0.29 Cd/0.28 Cd with available Aero Package
.....with the optional Aero Package. It includes a functional rear spoiler and underbody diffusers that reduce the vehicle's overall lift to zero and drag coefficient to .28."

And what the heck is a "underbody side fairing"? Is that the same as a diffuser?
They say the "Aero Package" so if taken literally, the chin does nothing? So for an additional $540 (Aero Kit) you get the splash guards and the chin. Makes sense.

Re: What makes an aero kit an aero kit?

yeah, i was also under the impression that there are 2 types of aero -- the "kit" (minus the rear spoiler), which is more cosmetic in value, and the "package," which is more for performance.

Re: What makes an aero kit an aero kit?

The Factory Aero Kit ($1200) includes the front/rear spoilers, splash guards and 4 under body diffusers. The problem is that alot of dealerships order the cars non-aero and just add the spoilers and splash guards at the dealership. That way they can sell them either way.

If you have an aero kit on your car and the third tailight still in the rear window then your dealer installed it. When the dealers install the aero kit they don't include the underbody diffusers because most people just want the "look" and never crawl under the car.

The diffusers can be orderd from the dealer and are cheap - $80. There are two on each side - one infront and one behind each rear wheel.
