Wheel bearing type noise

Has this been a problem with the G35s. I have a '04 with about 32K and it sure sounds like a low rumble from the front. The faster I go the less I notice it, but that could just be, because there are a lot of other road noises. I haven't noticed a difference when I apply the brakes.
The other question, is this requires a bearing replacement, is this a warranty job?

Check your tires for feathering. Run you hand on the inside part of the tread in one direction and then the other direction. If your hand or fingers catch on small edges of the tread blocks in one direction, your tires are feathered and that's the cause of your noise.

Do this first before you go spending money on bearing replacement. Especially if you have the original Michelins on the car. My rumbling noise started at around 8K miles

Just came back from the tire store and the dealership. The tire store said I did not have feathering of the tires, but I did have wear on the inside tread. Then I went to the dealership and we went for a short test drive to demonstrate the rumbling noise from the front end and he said the noise is definitely from the tires and that the camber is setup such that tires will wear out on the inside. This is typical for G35 coupe, and tires will will last about 20K, I have 32K. So I asked him what the point was in getting expensive tires if they are going to wear out so quickly.
He said I was correct and a lot of customers are buying less expensive tires.
Well at least I don't need new bearings.

You got worn out wheel bearing when the noise level changes as you apply and release the brakes and another indication is a change of sound level as you corner.

Get tires with a higher UTQG (Uniform Tire Quality Grade) and your tires will last longer. How expensive your tires are doesn't equal how long they will last. The UTQG rating is what you want to check on.

Is it possible to have a bad bearing in the back on these cars? I have a wheel bearing type noise, but it's coming from the back right. It's loudest at around 50mph.

This is a long known problem with the G going back to when the G first came out in 2003. Search on feathering or cupping and I'm sure you'll see hundreds of threads. There is no real solution other than getter longer tread life (harder compound) tires - but you will lose out in handling.

Have you tried getting your wheels balanced? Mine is making some noises on the highway now, but I looked and apparently one or 2 of the weights have fallen off my front wheels.

I wax my wheels, and apparently the guys at the tire shop who mounted my new tires a few thousand miles ago didn't do a very good job scrubbing the wheel before they put the weights on.

Has anyone had any luck getting the dealer to replace the front tires under warranty for the rumbling noise. My G35 is seriously loud in the front... last time I had it in, the dealer replaced the passenger-side front bearing but the noise is still there. They say it's the tires even though I have 16k miles and lots of thread left. A buddy of mine with an Audi A3 got 4 new tires from his dealer for the same type of road noise issue and his noise disappeared after he got the new tires installed.

I'm concerned about this because my warranty is going to run out in a few months and I don't really want to drop cash on new front tires just to try to figure out if the tires or bearings are the culprit.

It's the tires!
I'm at 87K now and on my 4th set of fronts... I could get more miles but just can't stand the noise and yes, I do keep it aligned... It's a G & Z thang; oh yeah, my Vette's did it too on all 4 so it's nothing new to me. I plan on buying tires every so often; new tires feel so nice!

Tires! The inside front tires are most probably feathered. It's part of ownership with the Coupes. The noise usually begins after 10,000 miles and becomes progressive after that. If you were able to rotate the tires, which you can't, you would for the most part, no longer notice the noise being that obvious or coming from the front.

1. Everyone can get a camber kit for the front that will change this whole inside tire wearing out thing. Its the negative camber i believe that is causing inner wear.

or...

2. For longer lasting tires, just have a rim/tire shop swap the 2 front tires horizontally. I mean by this is having the INSIDE (worn out part of tire) of the RIGHT rim flipped, so that the INSIDE faces out and the OUTSIDE faces in. More tread in the inside so the humming shouldnt be there.

Someone correct me if im wrong.
