Most mods suck anyway!

This rant was sparked by Zaid918's post about this forum being dead. It's my oppinion so it's not meant to offend anybody. To me, 9 out of 10 people that change their car's wheels and/or tires, the car ends up looking bad (overdone). They are too big, or wide, or too shinny, or too ugly, or they just don't go with the car. Most after-market spoilers and/or skirts don't match the car either. It's like putting too flashy (or a bad match) of a frame on a beautiful painting. The frame draws all of the attention which takes away from the beautiful painting. I recall a friend of mine that spent about $3000 in body skirts and they fell appart and made the car look like crap. It's a gamble! In a car of this class, mods should very mildly and tastefuly change the original appearance. I undestand they are subjective though. This car is a beauty as it is. As far as mechanical mods, I would only change the air filter (K&N) and that's it. A supercharger sounds nice, but I rather enjoy the car, rather than live for the car. When available, they are like what, $3000 range? Some of these mods end up messing up your engine, or voiding the warranty, not to mention eating up your salary. I know of many stories like that. By the time you spend $10,000 in mods, you could have bought a Porsche boxter, and owned one of those dream cars. I rather be proud of what the engineers at Infiniti did with the car, which is plenty. If say a Honda S2000 beats me in 0 to 60, so be it. A car is not just about 0 to 60 times. I'm sure the G35 Coupe is more practical and better in other areas. But I guess if your goal is to race on a track, it's a different story. I understand the bottom line is "whatever floats your boat too. It's your money, so you do what you want to the car. To me, it's hard to beat seeing a 15 year old car in great shape that looks just like it did when it was purchased. Peace! :-)

Yep for the most part I agree. If I ever mod my car I want them to be almost invisible, or really subtle like mud guards or minor body kits. I just don't understand how some people want to mod the hell out of the exterior of one of the best looking cars ever made.

I follow Mani's perspective, subtle/sleeper. I'm hoping a body kit comes out that enhances the nice lines of the car. The current Nismo kit is nice. While I like the 2 current "crazy" kits offered, they are too over-the-top for what I want to do to my car. (I am waiting for pesti to post pics once his is done)
As far as performance, I'm not opposed to a more aggressive angle. A supercharger under the hood or even catching BMWs off guard with BOVs from a turbo would be nice. I do like that stock is very respectable and a good starting place. Just my opinion.

Drive safe, have fun, kick butt when necessary

A body kit that I liked was the one for the Maxima by Stillen. It added minor changes.
