stupid me, was playing with my new stereo system the other day and drained my battery, i couldnt even start the car, i had to get it jumped, but anyhow

did this have any effect on my battery now? i mean is my battery weak? or is it back to fully charged to normal?

reason i ask is cause one of my amps cut out today while i was playing loud music, i was pushing em pretty hard, my gains were like 1/4 way up, now when i turn my radio on, only one of my amps come on, but not ther other, and im trying to figure out why, could it be my battery is weak and cannot provide enough juice to power that amp up? the other amp comes on fine though...

If you drain your battery you need to use a recharger and NOT your alternator for recharging.

deep discharging a standard battery is killer on it..You have definitely reduced it's capacity. Can't realy say to what extent, but it will not be the same as before. You will probably get a little less life out of it. When you deep discharge, the cells can get irreversably damaged, doing it once might not be too much of a problem but try not to let it happen too often. They have deep cycle batteries that can handle that kind of abuse, but they cost more. As far as charging your battery, yes you should use a plug in automatic battery charger that will drop from a fast charge to a trickle to top off and get the maximum capacity. Just ruinning the engine will also charge the battery off the alternator, but you would have to run your car for a very long time to fully charge it.
