Re: Flat tire!!!!!!!!!!!

its only a flat dude, probably from a nail...i dont think the dealer can do much, you should get pep-boys to fix your rim because repairing a flat does not require scratching the rim......i dont know what on earth they were smoking when they said that.....
dealer probably wont replace the tire man, you can try, but good luck

Re: Flat tire!!!!!!!!!!!

Some tires shops scratch up the rim when they put it on the machine to balance the tire, happens mostly on aftermarket rims....this happened to me at Sam's.

Did you get the flat while driving? if so, did you drive on it at all before noticing that is was flat? If you did most likely the tire will be unfixable.

Re: Flat tire!!!!!!!!!!!

Only because they have minimum wage guys that don't really know how to be careful with the machine and the rim. Try looking for a local non-chain mechanic shop that puts a little more care into their work, if you don't want to wait for the dealership to open. Or try an actual tire shop like a Firestone or a Goodyear -- perhaps they have a little more experience with not scratching rims, maybe.

Don't get just a plug. Make sure you get a patch if they repair the tire. A plug will almost always blow out on you again in the near future. Also note that your speed rated is effectively voided with a patch... so I wouldn't be taking a repaired tire above freeway speeds.

Re: Flat tire!!!!!!!!!!!

dreamerrr - not sure where ur located, but try discount tire/america's tire....they have always been good with my rims and willing to pay for any damages. Also if you buy a new tire from them you can add a roadhazard warranty for an extra $20. This way if you get another blowout they will replace the tire if unfixable. It has more than paid for itself for me in the past.

Re: Flat tire!!!!!!!!!!!

I got one at around 4000 miles. The dealership would not replace it because it was due to a nail. It took me two days to find a shop that carries it. They all told me it was going to be a special order and was going to charge me $250.00. I found it from a small shop for $180.00 the next day.

Re: Flat tire!!!!!!!!!!!

I just had a screw removed and patched in a Blizzak last week. Discovered the moron that fixed it damaged the Moda rim in the process. New rim is on the way at no charge. Big-O tire has always treated me fair and have all the equipment to repair tires without even touching the rim.

Unfortuantely I got the moron that didn't give a Hoot!

Re: Flat tire!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with ryoken, don't get it plugged. Find a good place to take the tire off and patch it. When they are plugged, usually they have to ream the hole a bit and it causes more damage to the cords and steel belts. ...dean
