laid deposit on a 6MT tonight, check out these #s

i finally got to test drive the 6mt coupe tonight for the first time. i have to give props to Plaza Infiniti in St. Louis. the salesman threw me the keys and told me to be back in "an hour or so". i was like holy ***** and headed out to some twisty backroads outside of town.

driving impressions: LOVE the engine and the exhaust note is pretty amazing for being stock. plenty of pull in every gear and the 6MT shifter is nice for stock as well. the only thing negative was a bit of vibration through the gear shift when RPMs got near 6000. handling was great, but VDC kicked in too soon in my opinion..... i think i'd leave it off in normal weather. the interior is fine, but my 1999 A4 is just as nice if not better. the BOSE is weak, but thats no news to anybody. great seats, i just wish i could lower the driving position a bit and i'm only 6' tall. those are probably my only gripes.... loved everything else about the car. i stepped out knowing that this is my next car, no doubt.

the dealer doesn't have the exact 6MT that i want, but luck would have it that one arrives in mid-May (graphite 6MT w/ graphite leather, premium pkg, no spoiler). MSRP is 35500 and the salesman immediately offered 1500 off to get me down to 34000. i gave my credit card # to hold the car for me while i sell my Audi and contemplate the purchase. its SOOO tempting because i have the chance to get the EXACT car i want right off the truck with ZERO miles.

do you guys think 1500 off MSRP is a pretty good deal right now? i think i could possibly get another 500 off with some hardball. i hear its wise to negotiate from invoice price up, so does anyone know what the invoice price on this car is? can i just ask the salesperson to see the invoice?

thanks in advance to any of you guys with insight on my situation. i have to admit that i was shocked when the dealer let me drive a hot car alone for over an hour!

You are getting a good deal.... I got $1400 off.... and I got what I wanted for my trade. I think you might get another $300 off, maybe $500. You should contact Grubbs, and see if they can do better.
What interest rate did you get?

well, I got my 6MT coupe with pretty much everything for 1500 off plus they dropped the processing fee from my dealer in MD. Then last week, I heard that the same dealership was only giving 900 off MSRP. I don't know why they wouldn't go lower when the car gets older.

It might be that demand is increasing as summer approaches, at least in the snowbelt. In my case, getting a (soon to be) in-stock car last June rather than wait until fall for a custom ordered one (only diff would have been no spoiler) was a big factor. This is most definitely a summertime car. I was (and am) very glad I didn't wait.

BTW I got $500 off sticker at Ramsey Infiniti in NJ for a 6MT/Prem/Aero/Nav back then, a pretty good deal at the time.

I had the same experience at Douglas Infiniti in NJ. They let me drive an IP/willow 6MT coupe solo twice with no stated time limit. Those drives sold me on the car and would have sold me on the dealer hands down if only they could have quickly gotten me the exact car I wanted. Ramsey did, so I bought it there.

Got my 6mt 3 weeks ago Saturday. Have the exact same options and aero. List on my car was $36,110. Out the door for $32,980. You can do better on the price. Negotiate off the invoice price and not the sticker. You are giving the dealership leverage when you negotiate off sticker.

Good luck and play tough. Its worth the extra $1,500 in savings.

Ask your dealer if your employer is on their VPP list. That'll get you at $200-$300 over invoice. There's about 3 grand between invoice and MSRP on the loaded G.

yeah, after a nights sleep...... i think i can definitely do better. although i appreciate all the input from you '03 owners, the coupe market is not quite as competitive this year. seems like most of the new 04s are going for around 2K off sticker or better. i think if they can give me a good trade on the Audi and get the sale price down around 32500 - 33K i'll pull the trigger.

Where are you located? Did you receive VPP pricing? I am also in the process the best I have done is $750 over invoice but I am in Northern Virginia.

i'm in St. Louis, MO.

750 over invoice is pretty damn good. better than my 1500 off sticker at this point.
