JD Power rankings
when looking and name plate (brand) ratings, infiniti slipped a few notches. don't have last years numbers handy to see if we had more problems or that others just past us by.
overall, virtually all car manufacturers in 2003 would have been the leader in 1998. shows quality has improved.
biggest surprise of whole this is hyundai

Re: JD Power rankings
The 2004 G35 downright sucks according to JD Power. 2/5 for mechanical quality? And Nissan is near the bottom in the Initial quality study for 2004. Is that surprising or about right?

Re: JD Power rankings
one of the things that can her a car is actual vs. expected gas mileage.
hyundai's rating overall excludes kia, which is theirs. next year it will probably be all inclusive. kia gets a lousy rating.
but, this is also based upon new car, not long term quality.

Re: JD Power rankings
the 2 mark for mech. quality makes no sense to me since the 2003 and 2004 are the same car with some minor changes/improvements. if anything, the 2003 should be worse since the 2004 would have all the tsb's done on it already. it has to make you wonder about the validity and worthiness of such surveys.

Re: JD Power rankings
Infiniti did quite well in 2003. Why would they suddenly slip so much in 2004?

Re: JD Power rankings
Initial Quality is a different survey than Customer Satisfaction. Infiniti ranks tops in Customer Satisfaction as you have shown. Those results are not out yet for 2004.
As far as Initial Quality, which is what this survey is about, Infiniti did improve from 110 to 104 problems/ 100 vehicles but other makes just improved more.
