Whoa! I didn't know!!!

Hey,

Wow I just discovered this. Never even had a clue this 'mod' existed. If you hold your unlock key down for about 3 seconds, the windows roll down halfway! Let go and hold it down another 3, they roll down all the way!

SO SWEEETTT!!

It's so cool that you can open it with the FOB. I wish you could close the windows too though. My friend's 3 series can open and close the windows from the FOB. Wonder if that option can be enabled?

Re: Whoa! I didn't know!!!

Your friend's 3-series also opens/closes the sunroof w/ the windows. We don't get that little perk.

BTW, if you didn't know about the keyfob, then you probably also didn't know that turning the key in the lock and holding it in will open (unlock position) or close (lock position) the windows.

99atlantic, Your windows could be programed to go down with the fob, and up and down with the key. Your dealer has the tool to do this for you. Go after him. Good luck.

Re: Whoa! I didn't know!!!

wickedg35, I don't know if there are different options to program in on the window functions, but my Coupe's windows go all the way down uninterupted when I press the open function on the keyfob (continuously for about 3 seconds).
Same with the key when turned to the open position continuously for 3 seconds after unlocking the door, the windows open (all the way), and after locking the door, windows close.
Hope this helps

Re: Whoa! I didn't know!!!

A friend of mine whom owns an Audi A4 was able to enable these features by hooking up what they called a VAG to a laptop and then to the cars computer. He was able to do all kinds of neat stuff like enable an EQ for his bose sound system and enable opening and closing of his windows from the Key FOB. Ever heard of anything like that?

Yes, if you have that computer thingie you can configure several things. Lights, door lock, alarm features, battery cutoff, etc.

Yeah! I did that with my wife when we bought her new Beetle a couple of years ago just to joke around. My sister-in-law was with her as my wife tried pushing her inside the house to slam the door.
