Power increase!

Ok i know this has probablly been asked but now i am finally going to need a CAI, i am finally bored of stock sound and preformance! SO does any one PLEASE have any numbers on the Nismo and AEM cold air intake power ups? How many horses do they really add?

And does anybody remember that whole thing with the blitz filter for the G, adds 18 horses? I remember that...so please hit me up anyone...i want to go nismo, but does AEM make better power for the G? Is nism worth the extra cash, and does anyone have one here? Thank you...please any kind of responce will be nice! THANK YOU...peace

Re: Power increase!

Ambient temperature at crusing speeds can make a huge diff in HP. The filter itself isn't that big a diff as the stock air filter is very free flowing.

If you want to know for absolutely sure what the gains are, go to Radio Shack, get a $20 thermometer with probe, duct tape the probe to your stock filter and take her for a ride down the road. Then come back and tape it to where the CAI would have gone and let me know. I have a program that calculates your HP based on temp, holding everything else constant and I can tell you exactly what your gain will be.

I would have done this myself but I just don't care enough to spend $20 on a thermometer. I bought the JWT/Z tube just for sound alone. Lots of argument about the CAI and short tube filters, but so far it's all speculation as no one has actually measured the temps in controlled conditions.

Re: Power increase!

Yes that is very true...thank you for all the input. However, i heard both good and bad things about SA and CA intakes.

But i really think it goes with one's prefrence. Now i didnt want to go throught all that trouble just to see HP gains, but i thought some one might have seen a place on the net that compares all the intakes, and hp gains on each different brand.

But has anyone heard of anything? thanks again...

Re: Power increase!

I've seen a couple of mags do comparisons but they all show a few gains, but the problem is a dyno has some error in it and all the gains found have been at or around that error range. None that I've seen have controlled for pressure, temp, humidity and until that's done it's all speculation.

Just get the one you like. None of them will let much more air, if any, in than the stock filter, although as you put on the miles the cleanable filters will let more air in than the paper filters.
