Dang it's a lot of A-holes on this forum, lol. Like...A LOT!!!

Its not really that bad. Of course its not going to feel like a manual because there is no foot motion. And even if it shifted EXACTLY as quick as a manual, people would still say it shifted slower because psychologically, they arent doing something that they are accustomed to do. And you know, some ppl dont like things that deviate from what they learned, lol.

But I have found it to be fun at times. I just shift in the high range. Dont let your foot off the pedal because there will be a major pause. To compare it to a manual G, I'd have to drive one. But it doesnt feel like ALL of the power is being put on the ground like other manuals that I have owned or driven. But if all you have is an automatic (and Im assuming most of us only have one G), it can be a fun break from driving in automatic mode.

I dont mess with it ALL the time because I want to reserve something to be fun periodically. Plus I dont know anything about how dependable it is.

so you are supposed to keep your foot on the gas while you shift up? I was worried that is sumhow bad for the car. This is my first automatic with the gear shifting mode.

I can make mine sound exactly like a manual by lifting off the gas. You have to time it just right.

Completely poser....but its still fun (wanted a 6MT but had to get a deal done quick)

It's really as simple as everyone is saying. Press up when you want to shift up and down when you want to shift down.

The only time I use it is when I want to pass someone, when I'm going down/ up a steep hill, or when I want to have some fun and drive it hard.

The only time you would downshift is to slow down or for quick acceleration if you're in a higher gear. You never want to downshift when you're above 3k rpm's... You'll be up near redline which is no good cause you have no room left in that gear to accelerate.

You do not need to do anything with the gas pedal while using the tiptronic. Just stay where you are on the gas and shift. Don't shift into first gear unless you are coming to a stop and doing under 20mph. It's bad for your gearbox.
