fwiw, i managed to fit my mountain bike in the trunk w/ the front wheel off and the seat folded down - but it's tight. i tried right after i got the car and it didn't go in, but i played around with it again when i had more time and got the angles right to get it in there and back out w/o scratching anything. i'd definitely recommend laying down sheets or towels or something to pad the interior bits, but - at least in my case - i got a bike in there. ymmv.

With the seats folded down and the front bike tire removed, I was able to get the bike through the door and lay it on the folded rear seats. BUT I enclosed the bike in a bike bag first:

that's what i did.....never even tried it through the door opening; just the trunk.

I know everyone was dying to know the outcome. Here you have it. With the rear seats down and the front tire off. The bike fit perfectly going in from the trunk. Couldn't have been easier. Ofcourse I did cover the interior with a sheet!

I have a Cannondale road bike, and it fits in my trunk with the seat down, but ONLY if I take BOTH the front and rear wheels off. And it barely fits. The rear wheel is a pain with the chain and all, but its worth it considering how nice it is where I go riding [img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img]
