Will a bike fit??

With the front tire off and the back seats down, will a bike fit in the trunk/back?

Re: Will a bike fit??

I think you're asking for trouble. I sure you can GET it to fit, but sooner or later, something's gonna get banged and something's gonna get scratched. It's BOUND to happen.

The best thing to do is just buy a bike when you get to where you want, ride it, and then just ditch it when you're done. It'll get expensive if you like to ride a lot, but at least the G will be fine.

Snelldogg,

All kidding aside, I think it probably would fit. But you KNOW that sooner or later, it's gonna scratch something. That being said, I'd probably do it... 8-)

Even if you take the pedals off you'd be very hard pressed to fit an adult bike. I've been looking for a bike carrier for the last 4 months and have not found anything decent either.

Re: Will a bike fit??

from most of you thanks for the responses.

From the last w-***. If i had my car here I would not be wasting anyones time. It is in the shop getting a new door after being broken into.

I can't understand why people respond to posts when they have nothing...I mean 0 to contribute.

Isn't there a better way to spend your time???

Re: Will a bike fit??

Snelldogg,

I ride downhill bikes that would definitely not fit no matter what. I posted awhile ago here asking about roof racks, and apparently it's possible. Obviously, it's going to ruin the looks of your car, but do what you gotta do to keep riding.

Re: Will a bike fit??

I can appreciate your determination.....but IMO I don't think it would work. The handle bars and pedals are enough obstruction for entry into the car......

My wife has one of those tiny collapsable/foldable bikes, and I honestly don't think even that would make into the car.....

To the best of my knowledge I have not seen a bike carrier for the G as of yet......

I'm sure with some persistence you may be able to get a bike into the trunk, but sooner or later there will be a price to pay...IE dent scratch tear etc......

Re: Will a bike fit??

snelldogg,

I've personally had _two_ mountain bikes inside my G35 coupe (just last week). One medium sized and one very large. I removed the wheels, seatpost/saddle and pedals from both bikes. The large bike went in through the trunk and the other through the door opening.

To keep things clean, I had a friend make two "bike bags" out of two old bed sheets. Folded them in half, sewed the ends closed and put a zipper on the long side. I put the bikes in the bags before putting them in the car, then slipped the wheels into the bags. They worked great- no dirt, grease or scratchs at all!

With camelbacks, duffle bags, etc. the car was pretty full but everything worked out great. Hauling a single bike is trivial - I've done that a few times now.

Let me know if you need more info.

-Brian

==========================================

Are you taking the left front or right front tire off the G?
I just don't see how removing a tire will help fit a bike :-)
