Re: brake fluid cover

the only alternative is to buy the JDM kit yourself and do all the installation yourself.. plenty of people have complained about the prices, but plenty of people have also bought them anyways..

Re: brake fluid cover

What do you mean buy the kit and do all the installation yourself? How does the installation differ between the JDM 'kit' and what strictlyZ carries?

Thanks,
-Chris

Re: brake fluid cover

Strictly Z already trims the piece to fit (otherwise I believe it hits the hood) and the kit is simple to install. It was worth the extra money to save me from having to try and trim the piece correctly - With my luck that would have been an emergency room visit for sure!

Re: brake fluid cover

the one from strictly z has been cut/modified to just bolt on. The jdm 1 will take some cutting to get it to fit....some people were grinding down the metal partition to fit it properly.

You get what you pay for.

Re: brake fluid cover

You can order the JDM one from www.JapanParts.com.

It looks like it's about $40 plus shipping. Shipping can be expensive from Japan.

Re: brake fluid cover

its not even that. Ok so its 40 or so dollars from japanparts.com But then you have to go to a body shop and take out a piece of metal so you can fit it. Its WAY WORTH THE TIME AND Especially the money to get it from strictlyz. I got it from there and was well worth it.

Before that i had my friend from japan send me that part over. I took it to my body shop and the price was going to come out more than what i paid at strictlyz. So i sold the one i bought from japanparts.com and got the one from strictlyz.

Re: brake fluid cover

Do you have pics of the difference between the JDM and strictlyz's cover? I'm pretty sure it's not that hard to do, all you need is a dremel and some ***** to cut it to fit.

Re: brake fluid cover

Does the one at Strictly Z still say "battery" on the cover?

Re: brake fluid cover

yes, they all will...
this is the actual battery cover from the Nissan Skyline, cause the car is right-handed and the battery is on the passenger side of the Skyline (driver side of our G35)...
correct me if i'm wrong...

Re: brake fluid cover

So is there anywhere to buy the cover for the jdm driver side cover? Think it's kind of tacky having two covers that say "battery."

Re: brake fluid cover

yeah its tacky... but unless its custom-made, i dont know of anywhere that sells it where it says anything else, or is blank... i just ordered mines, from strictlyz.com, yesterday! its worth it, i think... it makes the engine bay look more luxurious, without having to see the brake fluid thingy...
and it makes it symetrical. i might just chisel the "battery" word off!!!
stay tuned for pics... hahahaha...

Re: brake fluid cover

Buying the JDM driver's side brake fluid cover will not work, they are different shapes/sizes.

It does not look *that* hard to modify the car to use the JDM cover instead of the StrictlyZ one, but given the prices, I chose paying a couple of bucks extra instead of cutting metal on my car.

There was a long thread with good instructions on the JDM cover on FA some time ago...

Re: brake fluid cover

Believe me it's worth the $80. It def. gives the engine bay a much cleaner look...plus (as stated earlier) it's pre-cut so no other cutting or shaving is needed.
