engine rattle/noise.. (video inside)

Hey guys, I first noticed this noise a few days after I bought the car.. Just wondering if it's just normal engine clatter with these cars or if it's something to be worried about. Lemme know what you think..

Sounds normal...maybe a belt squeak, but nothing bad.

okay, cool. I kept hearing the noise when I'd drive into a teller at the bank or through an overpass and just wanted to clear it up. Thanks!

If its a 6MT, you could be hearing the infamous clutch rattle...it's due to the OEM design of the flywheel/clutch assembly. A way to see if this is the problem, park in an enclosed area (a garage) and let the car idle. If you hear the noise, and it goes away when you depress the clutch...there you go.

Nothing sounds abnormal in that video.

I also have an 06 6MT.

actually it does go away when I depress the clutch.. Is it worth having someone take a look at it? or just wait until I'm ready for a new clutch?

yup, it's normal...one of the G35 quirks. If you replace the clutch, the sound can actually be worse.

Yup, normal. Used to freak me out, now i'm used to it. BTW, a little trick everyone here knows... when you go to turn the car off and if you hear that really bad 'rattling'... keep the clutch depressed when you shut it off. Sounds smooth as, well it should anyway...
