How to launch a/t g35c
How to launch a/t g35c
I've heard of brake and gas at the same time but what is it exactly? Do you just hold brake and press gas until (how much rpm?) and release brake?
Sorry if this question sounds stupid but I've never tried it before.
thanks!

Far as i know about 3500 that is what works good for me .. Little tire noise bt not a hole lot.... Turn off the VCD

Re: How to launch a/t g35c
turn VDC off... hold the brake... press the gas until the RPM's are @ 3000 (or the car starts to lurk forward)... depending upon the road surface, you may get different results... you want the tires to break lose some so that the engine doesn't bog down. Try at different RPM's until you have it mastered...
Be advised however that it puts a little extra ware on your TC. I wouldn't go around brake-torquing all the time.

I ahev done it a couple times and even with the VDC off it wouldn't go past 2500 rpms. Weird huh?

Like Kaboom said, your results will vary with roads. On a regular ol road at 55 degrees I spun after brake release on anything at 2000 and above. Spinning wheels is bad. I tested with VDC on and off as well as at different RPMs and my best time was in full auto, with VDC ON, and just releasing brake and slamming my foot on the gas.

Re: How to launch a/t g35c
It's not really weird other than I didn't think the factory torque convertor stalled that high. My T/C ( before Level 10 did it's magic ) only went to 2000 rpms. Now it goes to a hair under 3k but if I brake-torque that high, all my traction goes away. In my case, best launches require a brake-torque to 2200 rpms. The T/C will then flash-stall to 3k & off I go. Best 0-60 time has been a single 4.85 but consistent 5.0 - 5.1's seem to be my norm ( all measured @ my personal "test track" with a G-Tech Pro ).
Re: How to launch a/t g35c
4.85 0-60? Do you mean 5.85? 4.85 is faster than an M3...

Re: How to launch a/t g35c
Troy - Nope, I meant 4.85 but remember that I also said I haven't been able to duplicate that run. BTW - my oldest son has an 2003 M3 & we're pretty even until about 80 mph ( then he walks away - FOR NOW!! ). My G has about every N/A mod available except cams so I'm far from stock.
Havoc - Level 10 restalled my factory T/C to around 3k rpms ( $498 ) + did a valve body recalibration ( $698 ). IMHO - the T/C is the single most cost-efficient performance mod U can do to an A/T. Gurgen & DaveO had Edge Racing do their T/C's & are equally pleased. In fact, Gurgen had to have his stall lowered down from his original mod of 2800 rpms to 2400 rpms ( I recall? ) because of excessive wheelspin from his new PE T/T. Nice problem to have, huh!!!!!

Why the Skepticism?
6-1 - I'm not going to get into a pissing contest with someone who wasn't there but what's with the negativity? I said my BEST run was the 4.85 but 5.0 - 5.1's were the norm. Do U play golf, by chance? Just because U might catch your 8 iron perfectly one time & hit it 160 yards doesn't mean that's your average distance for that club if U normally hit it 148 yards. I didn't say that I AVERAGED 4.85's & also said I've never replicated it so clearly it was a fluke. However, I CAN hit 5.1's all day long or do U not give me credit for mentioning that? When U consider that Car & Driver manages to wring 5.6's out of their test G's ( November 2002 ) then low 5's are easily reachable with the right mods. For reference - Precision Industries claims to drop .5 seconds off the quarter mile times if U have their Dragon T/C. Factor in my full Borla exhaust ( headers/test pipes & TD ); Crawford plenum; 350 EVO throttle body; AEM CAI; T/S reflash; Level 10 VB & 10" iForged/Nitto Extreme rear wheel/tire combo on top of the T/C mod & it's not only possible to hang with the M3 for awhile but I've done it numerous times playing with my son's Bimmer. Sure, this isn't Olympic scoring where U throw out the highest & lowest scores & average the remainder nor do I claim to have a "sub 5 second 0-60 car" but I do know that some of the Members here & on My350Z.com that have managed to run a SINGLE 13.99 quartermile now brag about their "13 second" G/Z. Similar circumstances but no one trashes them!
I haven't had a chance to dyno my G but maybe it's just an unusually strong one. I've seen posts here ranging from 223 rwhp to 242 rwhp in stock form. C&D ( November 2003 ) also states that they've encountered 2 different M3's ( that's seems to represent everyone here's "Holy Grail" ) running different 0-60 times ( 4.8 vs 4.5 ) & even threw in a Dinan tuned one which was slower ( 4.6 ) despite a 8.4% increase in horsepower. I have to admit that U Nissan guys R much more hardcore than the Lexus folks from which I just came. But at least the Lexus gang would give ya the benefit of the doubt.

Re: Why the Skepticism?
Hey MeanGene...I remember you from CL...I rarely posted, but read each and every thread in the offtopic and gs forum. My dad has a GS430 which he was going to give to me, but once I drove the coupe my mind changed. I guess your not as well known here as you were on CL, hence the haterz, but I wouldn't doubt that you could get a sub 5second 0-60 time. Take it easy bro, any pics of the ride btw?
