Can the front seat take it?

I have to take my brother-in-law on a long drive in my coupe tomorrow. He is roughly 5'10" and 350 lbs. Can the passenger seat take his kind of size and weight for an extended period of time? I'm a little concerned he'll crush the side bolsters and potentially break the backrest. Anyone have any experiences driving very large people in their coupes? Does any one know if the seats actually have a weight limit?

Hahaha. Yes, I am sure that the seat can take his weight. You will inevitably get wrinkles in the leather of the side bolsters, even if a 100 pound girl sits there. I dont think the back rest will break because my stupid friends have sat on the back part of the seats as they were inclined downward and nothing happened. In the unlikely event that it does break, I am sure the seat will be under warranty.

I have to give you the negative on the side bolsters getting wrinkled by a 100 lb girl. My seats are almost perfect condition still because I do not allow any big person to sit in my car. Most average sized girls fit right in. I tell them not to slide over the sides of the seats when they get in.

Re: Can the front seat take it?

The seats are designed to take the impact of a rear-end collison so the forces created from a 350lb person just "sitting" in them isn't even close to the forces a seat has to survive in a collison. You have nothing to worry about there.

The wrinkles might be another issue. Try getting some good leather conditioner on them before the drive. That might help reduce any leather wrinkling...

Re: Can the front seat take it?

what you might want to warn him is that he might be uncomforatble if he's sitting for such a long time. i haven't had any complaints from any of my friends except for two of my bigger friends. both said the seats weren't that comfortable. everyone else is fine with the passenger seat so maybe its a big guy thing? dunno, they just said this the other day so i might've been thinking something along those lines. -shrug-
