Some random question that I need answers for.

I have some question that I couldn't find answers for and maybe you guys can help.

1. I've seen a lot of members recommending the 06 head light to all other yr. I've always wanted to know how is the 06 version differ from the other yr? Is that the only one that has the side stripe light or something?Asthetically, it looks the same to all other yrs headlight to me.

2. How many version of the rear spoiler are there for the g35 coupe? I believe there are two...the washboard one and the small narrow one that are on the 06. If I decided to get the wash board one, do I have to drill holes in the trunk or is there another way to secure it? I would hate to have some holes on the trunk if I decided to take spoiler off and a plug won't cut it.

3. I don't have a navi system and I want to get one soon. How much would it cost for the dealer to install the OEM version or should I better off going after market? I'm looking to spent no more then $700.

Thanks in advance...

1 the 06 headlights are projector type HID instead of reflector types found on the 05 and below

2 there are only two types of spoilers and the only way to secure them is to drill holes if I'm not mistaken

3 get a garmin, I heard the retrofitting of the oem nav is a royal PITA

What's the difference between "projector type HID" and the 06 refelctor lights?

Why is one better than the other? Is it really that important to replace te lights if you have a 2005, 2004, or 2003 model?

Thanks!

The '06 projectors have a cleaner look:
- more silver/chrome look in the housing
- a clear turn signal cover instead of yellow
- HID projectors which are a cleaner, "brighter" light,
- a chrome strip instead of the "clearance strip light" which was in the '03-'05
- a small "driving light" in the foglight assembly which was not present on previous years

a reflector is just a regular bulb pointed at a small mirror that reflects the light back out (reflecting it off of the mirror makes it easier to aim and control than if it just pointed straight out)
HID are the blueish looking lights. They use gasses to produce light that shines straight out.

I've seen people put on the spoiler with lots of double sided tape and no drilling. Obviously not as secure, but it'll get the job done.

Get a portable GPS. This way you can put it in other cars, such as rental cars. Probably much cheaper also.

Projectors FTW! These will give you better light out put.

Installing a OEM Navi in a non-navi car? good luck! You are better off picking up a aftermarket navi. They are much better than the OEM navigation.

x2, OEM nav is an extremely hard DIY and the dealer will not do it. You need to replace the main wire cluster, and I think the only person who ever did it took around 10 hours to do it and it was expensive. Go aftermarket.

Projecters give you a much better light output, cleaner look, and takes away that ugly orange glass over the one light.
