Re: G35c or Ci?

I too am debating whether or not to get the "G" or a 330i.

I test drove the 330i with the perfomance package. All i can say is WOW. It handles like its on rails. The exhaust note is really good too.

I dont know what car i will get. The reason i'm leaning towards bmw is because insurance will be less on a 4dr then a coupe and plus the 330i gets better gas mileage then the "G".

I'm going to go to the dealer and test drive the G35 in a bit so I can make my final decision.

You're right about the dealers and the negotiations. Infiniti won't budge much with their pricing. I went to look at the 330ci, and I threw in that I was interesting in the g35 (I'm sure that scared them), and I got $4k off msrp!! Go to infiniti and say you're interested in the 330ci (they don't give a ....), and I managed to get them to take off $500. If you want the better "deal" from msrp, you'll have better luck with bmw...as far as a better deal in general, you'll just have to figure that out by test driving them a few times back to back.

g35 - engine, $$
330ci - interior. engineering

with the 10k diff....id go with g35. depends on what your looking for. if u are a more spirited driver who like over 4 points on ure record....get the G, if u are more of the daily comfort "i drive a beemer
type....get a beemer. jus drive both and judge for yourself~

Re: G35c or Ci?

i think both cars are very nice. only bmw 3-series (or any bmw series) are all over and are a dime-a-dozen. the g coupe is still fairly new. you may see more on the road compared to when they first came out but not as common as the 350z or bmw's. it's all a matter of personal preference of course. for me obviously, the coupe looks so much better. performance-wise, pretty close if you get the sports package with the 330ci.

BMWs are EVERYWHERE, and they're so small. A foot shorter than the G as a matter of fact. Less reliable, $5k more expensive AND due for a redesign soon. As one magazine put it, getting the G is like "getting a 5 series Bimmer, for the price of a 3". Those were my reasons anyway...

Re: G35c or Ci?

Probably the most common mistake everyone makes with these two cars:

G35 Coupe - REALLY HEAVY, even compared to the 330

BMWs in general - if you don't get free oil changes, maintenance is expensive as hell!

I have a couple friends that own Bimmers and they all got it because it was a BMW. Another friend of mine sold his M Coupe because it was too damn expensive to maintain. Now if you don't mind the expense of maintenance and are willing to pay the premium on the 330 I say get it, but the weight of the G is really hard to get past.. Personally I have driven both cars and I am VERY happy with the G35, honestly to me it was just more fun to drive and was a much better value. Like the guys said above, get a freakin SC/Turbo setup if you have the extra dough (but I wouldn't unless I was able to beef up the internals as well).

I too was looking at teh 330 with performance. It's very nice, but for about 8 grand more, it's not worth it. VPP price on a coupe is about 33-34, 330 with performance about 42 or so. It's a nice car, but not worth the extra money, in my opinion.

Re: G35c or Ci?

yea I guess I forgot about the free scheduled maintanance. It comes out to about 3 free oil changes since the scheduled oil changes are around 15k(+/-). When I went to the dealer for the first oil change after the free maintanance they charged me $230 for the oil change b/c of the microfilter and told me that I needed to replace the brake pads and rotors at a cost of @$1200. Also they would not give me a loaner b/c I did not purchase my car at that specific dealership. They also required that I leave my car there for the entire day....not sure if that's just my dealer or standard practice at all dealers.

Overall I've just been more impressed w/ the infiniti dealers.....just my opinion.

I wouldn't get a 3 seires unless it was a M3 but then you can almost buy two g35's for the price man don't even bother going to the bimmer dealer.

Re: G35c or Ci?

If I could have gotten a 330Ci at a decent price I would have been sitting in one now. But after I optioned it out it was approaching 44k, that's crazy...10k more then I paid for my G. the 330Ci with performance package is a nice car but too expensive for my blood.

Wait for the 4 Series or the 335ci if your going to go the BMW route......but why be like 30 other trillion people out there?? The last time a BMW caught my eye (not including the M5) was when I was about 9 and they were rare.....sooo played out now.

If you going BMW, M3 is like the only way to fly.

The G has nothing on the 5 series. And vice versa.

I don't like the everyone and their mom has a 3 series comment. Why? The G35 is becoming the "Japanese 3 series" as well.

Drive both, see which one you like better.

Re: G35c or Ci?

My sister has a 03 330ci and I have an 04 G35 Coupe. The G35 is a better buy trust me. NO doubt the bmw is a great car, but the interior and exterior is a little outdated now. The engine is pretty strong, but not for the amount of money you pay. I beat my sisters 330ci by at least 3 cars easy.

I paid 36k and she paid 44k.
