Did the dealership lie to me?

Ok so i found all the parts i need to add OEM nav to my 06 coupe. I called the dealer and they said this was not possible because the coupes were not prewired and needed all new wiring. First of all help me out is this true? I have all the other parts that are needed but cant get a straight answer as to whether or not this is possible to do. Help me out

Tyler

sorry i cant give you a definite answer.... but you are correct to be skeptical of dealer-supplied information

i doubt that what they told you is correct

I also believe they have lied. I have seen some people here that bought all the parts to do the OEM nav, but everyone has said its a real pain in the behind to get it done.

The dealership half lied to you. Impossible? Hell no. Anything is possible, especially adding navi to the car. I did it myself.

Are the cars prewired? No, you would need to make your own wiring harness and tap into existing wires.

Refer to my thread. Feel free to ask me questions.

I guess memory didn't serve me as well... ModMe, your thread was the one I was thinking about. I originally thought you had bought the full harness. I guess I mixed that up with another poster. Regardless, good job on your project. Very impressed by some of the awesome projects you guys (everyone here on the forums) have accomplished.

Haha thanks! My next project is adding factory bluetooth to G35 without bluetooth. Didn't really think it was useful before, but with the new handsfree law, guess it'd be pretty cool.

well not much. All i can really say is that the factory service manual is your best friend. You have to be creative and make your own harness. Take things slow and make sure you label all the wires. If you dont change your cluster, your MPG will not work.

The most tricky part is the plug. You'll need to go to an electronic store and find the pins that will fit the back of the DVD unit. If you can, ask for the pigtails to the DVD console and the navi screen. That'll make your life 100 times easier.
