The M3 will catch up to the sti after about 105mph or so. The bad thing about the Sti is that it has the launch AND the power to stay ahead for a while. Either way, the interior is really too crappy for a 30k car....quite disappointing. Performance on the other hand is awesome but hey, I like my cars well rounded.

If he's talking about the new gen M3 due out, the M3 will most likely faster than the STI. I've seen figures of 4.5-4.7 for an MT current M3. It would be a driver's race between the M3 and the STI.

other than top end racing, you basically have no chance. and when it comes to top end racing--well, actually, any kind of racing, you're risking your lives, and more importantly, insurance rates.

if you had the m3, it's a driver's race i think. the sti has a slight advantage factually i believe, but i still think it'd come down to drivers. i think they're about the same in handling. of course, top end will bow to the m3. awd cars are sprinters, not cross country atheletes (unmodded that is).

unless you do some drastic mods to the g, the sti has at least a second on you from a stop to the 1320.

 

what happens if you put a turbo in the G. how much will that change the race?

just a side note. someone at my work has an STI. I parked next to it the other day and went outside for lunch. before i got to my car, a bunch of people were smoking and looking at our cars. all i heard was, "i dont like that huge thing on the back" (sti wing). and "that car is classy" (pointing to my g)

The STI will Smoke your G. those things are fast, 0-60 in 4.3 seconds i've seen in some magazines. Not many cars out there can beat that car 0-60. Your G may be able to take the STI on a race track, but come on, how often are we on those. Get the M3, awesome car. Who cares if you might not be able to beat your gf. The STI is ugly in my opinion and the M3 looks so much better with those exhausts.

 

Get the M3 if you can afford it, although it'll still be challenge against the STi. Or get the upcoming Evo8 MR.

Got my rear spanked by an STi the other day. Going about 90 down the hwy and I see this hood scoop that could house a family of squirrels in my rear view mirror. I move to the center lane and he comes up next to me and looks at the G. I press on the gas *bad move*. He smiles, down shifts and is GONE!! Spanked me, but I still love my G.

STI is fast certainly. Add in AWD and all you see is rear end from the get go.

It has no radio an it's uglier than a Pinto Wagon, you can always jab her with that.
