It was definitely a newer Z28 with the rectangle shaped exhaust. Was coming home after watching the Laker game and I pass this Orange Camaro pretty fast. He swerves around a couple cars to get next to me and we end up at a red light on a incline. I had my VDC off just in case he wanted to race. Light turns green and I take off normal and so does he, but half a second later I hear him floor it and so do I. We were even going up the hill and dead even up to 2nd gear and then when he shifted into 3rd he pulled almost 2 car lengths on me. I was shifting a second after him through all the gears. I shifted at exactly at 6500 rpm, right where or just before the red bars start on the tach. We shut down around 80mph.

Didn't think I should lose to a Z28, only a SS. Guess they are a little bit faster after 60?

Btw, this was a pretty steep incline where we started and a little bit less when we ended.

um, you're suppose to get your *** handed to you. with a few bolt on mods my friend got his Z28 (non SS package but has a LS1 engine) in to mid 12s in vegas.

Haha, ok. Don't know much about the camaro's, but I've read that an SS does 0-60 in 5.5s. So, I was assuming that the G would be similar to Z28. I guess not. Can't find any performance figures on the Z28 though, besides its power: 310hp/340tq.

When I was looking to get one about 3 years ago, I think I remember reading that the Z28 did 0-60 in 5.5 seconds and the SS doing it in like 5.1 or so...

A Camaro SS was supposedly under rated at 310 bhp...more like 330-340 from what I have read and seen...good for 13.4-13.7 times right out of the show room...IE...will kill any stock Nissan on the planet so don't feel bad at all.

Wow...atleast you guys didnt get all defensive and start insulting the camaro that beat him this time. Yes, Z28's are underrated. They are stated at 310 hp factory, and most LS1 Z28/SS's will dyno over 300hp to the rear rollers. 1st and 2nd is very very close with the two cars though (because of our gearing) but theres no replacement for displacement, and those wide gears and 5.7 L will smoke on a G once you hit 3rd gear. Race to 4th, youll be even more impressed. It feels like the G is at a stand still compared to how fast a Z28 moves...
