Personally if I were you and all I wanted to spend was 7-8K, I would just buy a new car. You may risk blowing the motor and you are out 7-8k and will be forced to fix something down the road of which could have been tackled at the begining. Just my .02
Mostly right. Most threads so far have said the engine can be boosted to around 350-400 before seriously worrying about internals. My understanding is that is that the Vortech is rather easy to upgrade (sorry if I'm wrong.) Its possible you could throw some sort of base Vortech system in now and keep your boost low until you have a chance to upgrade to the power you want later, doing the engine work at that time as well.

Try calling GTM and see what they have to say. They are always helpful and know alot about our engines.

just do some research. not 1 days worth. but look on our FI forum and look through most the threads. on my350z they have a great FI community that has been through mostly every kit out there and there is a ultimate vortech thread over there as well. but do your reasearch, weigh out your options and then make a decision.

Boost!!!!

But not supercharger, go turbo and enjoy all the extra torque you get by not using power to make power.

only the brave and steep of pocket do turbo in SoCal. If he's looking at $7-8k for a Vortech, I'm thinking turbo is not an option, either for the build or to have it removed when State of California says take it out.... damn you, you non-CARB caring, out-of-state people .....

No jokes here. I am a die hard car enthusiast. The mod bug bit the **** out of me and it has been on ever since. I am actually building my motor as we speak.

Yes the internals will handle about that much...but IMO it is only a matter of time. When you take a high compression motor (i.e. any variant of the VQ35) and mix boost into the equation IMO it's like a ticking time bomb. In stock form the VQ35 is just not well equipped to handle boost...and for those that are boosted (on stock internals)...like I said it's only a matter of time. The longevity of the stock motor will def be compromised only because it was not originally engineered or intended to be boosted.

OP: Save your money and buy a new car if that is all you are willing to spend. Also I would go with a TT system...like somebodye else said you will not be using power to make power.
