Re: Lexus GS400 race.
It will definitely be a close race. Is the car manual or auto? manuals will run a bit quicker. I doubt he is running an extra 35hp with those mods.. maybe 15. 20" chromes arent helping much either. It should be close. If i were to put money, It would be on the G35, however I would have to see with cars. It will definitely be a race, be sure to post results whenever it happens. Good luck.

Re: Lexus GS400 race.
He said they both have 20" chrome wheels...So its not an advantage for either...We've owned a GS300 and it only had 225hp...The thing was sluggish from a stop but its top end can make up that difference in a hurry...When they get going they MOVE...And I'm sure the 300hp that the GS400 has is no exception...From a stop you may take him from one point to another, but shut down before you've reached the limits because I'm pretty sure he'll start to reel you in...Most of all be carefull..

Re: Lexus GS400 race.
It's a driver's race early but in my experience, I think the extra 2 cylinders help 80mph+. The GS accelerates quick but the Lexus V-8 is a highway beast. GS 430, stock 300hp, 325 lbs torque, drag of .029. Is the intake and chip from SRT? I think we have a guy on the board pushing about 325hp and 335lbs toruqe with it.
It depends on the launch a lot, the VQ is hella quick and has GREAT midrange (in my experience).
Good luck.

Re: Lexus GS400 race.
I've owned both...
and I'll tell you this, your gonna get him off the line, but he's gonna take u at the end. I owned a 99 GS400, and once that thing gets off the line, you can really feel your back dig into the seat. Just make its a short run to make it look like you won, but if its a race that takes you past 60, he will start to catch you.

Re: Lexus GS400 race.
My dad had a gs430 before he got his 7, and I gotta drive it a few times with him while i had my permit..lol..and myself having a coupe, I would put my money on the GS. From 0-60ish they feel about the same, but when I was in the GS at around 70 and punched it to 100, the thing just FLEW. I loved that car...apart from the suspension (horrible) the car was the shyyyt. Anyway...race him and put up the results.
