Why don't you borrow an STI, I will pull out my wifes M5 and i will prove it to you. If you are SoCal, I got a perfect spot in Newport where we can go, date and time, that will be enough proof, not just reading, proof is in the pudding.

i read about 5-6 magazines and road tests...their 1/4 mile times (m3,m5,sti) are very similar man...i don't know what you are talking about jaerian (won't stand a chance thing)...are you arguing that we can't launch an awd car correctly? in that case..maybe you are right..but other than that..i don't know what you mean

 

I'm stating in his post, he said and EVO and Sti, I am challenging anyone who has an STi or EVO, that the bottom line is, I have killed a few of these in my wifes M5, and anyone who likes to try get information on a magazine, same magazines that say an fully Nismo R-Tune 350Z can only run a quater mile in 14.1(which is BS). If someone will please bring one out and prove to me otherwise, then I will be quiet.

i can't help u there man...go to a strip or track or something..i am sure someone has an evo....or sti...if u go racelegal.com...u can see that there's an evo run 8.2 1/8 mile (they dun have enough room for 1/4 mile..) and i don't think your m5 (asssuming not highly modded) cannot run that time for sure since an m3 runs around 8.6.....

 

its only obvious the Evo should have a better time, there is traction issues there, the M will spin before it hooks up. I'm not trying to start an argument (yeah I am), but thats what keeps a good forum going, but its true, numbers from all these magazines are so inconsistent, that you have to see for yourself, popular mechanics has the STi 1/4 at 13.56, Autombile has it at 13.49, then you have road and track stating 13.3, motor trend has it 13.4, which is it, they have the M5 consistently at 13.2, and there is no way you can have a good launch on a M5 without slicks.

i agree...well...i dunno where u get the 13.2 thing from..but i mean..sti through all magazines that u mentioned..is around 13.3 ish? so...that 0.2 secs is that big to u? maybe u sneezed during the race can differ the time by 0.2 sec...

on the other hand..dun come onto the g35 and call out challenges to STI and EVO..i mean....most of us dun have evo or sti..so if u really want to challenge them..go to the STI or EVO forum.....especially u r not even challenging them with the G

 

I'll bring my G out against them, what's that saying "bottles are for babies" then can someone please change my huggies. The reason why I said or challenge the STi or Evo, someone in this forum mentioned them against the M car. Soomeone spoke so strongly about the Sti and Evo, which also made me think thay had and Evo or know by experience. I threw that out there because this was un G related subject.

if you'll notice the comparo of the evo and sti, the numbers are still on par with the m5. the reason there are so many crazy numbers out there for the cars is the awd launches; it's not something you can go out and do right off the bat. m5 beating evos and stis on hwys is no big deal; a g will do that fine. you want to drag race, then it's going to be more of a drivers race between the sti and m5.

 

If the M5 and an STI were tooling along at 70 mph together and they both punched it, the M5 would walk away. If they both started from a dead stop and raced to 70mph, the STI would still be ahead when they got to that speed.

At 100 mph (typical speed at the end of a 1/4mi run), two tenths of a second equates to THIRTY feet - several car lengths. If you're dragging for a 1/4mi, then yes, 0.2sec is a big deal. Of course, you're right - a sneeze in a driver's race can make a night and day difference.

And no, I wouldn't race an M3... or an M5. Or for that matter, a STi or eVO.

I got them sitting in there boxes, I also need help for my AP Racing BBK Kit, I wanted to see if I can pay Steve, if he knows what hes doing, also I placed a thread, Randy what do you think, I am getting rid of my 19's and going to 20's next Saturday, what should I run on them tire wise. I am lowered 2 in the front and 1.5 in the back, please help. Thanks, sorry guys I had to ask.
