I used to work with a guy with a Mach 1... I used to tell him my honda needed more torque cuz it only put down about 220 torque...

He told me he has more than enough to share.

Then he ran into me on the freeway....

pffft

Heat soak + ultra light flywheel + organic clutch disk + heavy duty pressure plate + hot weather + low torque output = VERY slow start from a dead stop...

slow slow slow slow VTEC JUST KICKED IN YO

thanks for the input guys, sorry for a noobish question, but it really helped me on what to do. Im happy with the car and the three mods I have done so far and im just going to save up and go FI.

I was looking at the VORTECH and then some turbo kits, Id be more than happy with a roots type blower, but I havent searched yet to see if there avalible for my car and if there are any huge tuning issues.

I really enjoy the sound of those s/c's.

fixed it.

even with a blower you'll pretty much just barely keep up with an 03/04 cobra

seriously wtf is ford doing with their engines?
Dude that 3.8 L was from the old mustang body style (ended in 04). The 4.0 liter is a little better with much more torque (210/240), but they are using the duratec 3.5 (or 3.6L) in some of their models that is putting out in the 270's now. still playing catch-up I agree.

I had an 03 Cobra that put 480 to the wheels..whoever said 03/04 Cobra's put 380 to the wheels is wrong..stock 03/04 Cobra's were rated at 390 hp to the crank.

03 and up Cobra's are s/c from the factory.

Keep in mind it is not all about HP...Cobra's may have lots of HP but they are heavy and the HP/weight ratio is not great.

I disagree. All Formula One engines are limited to 1.5 liters. Back when the rules were different, BMW and Honda were making 1.5 liter engines producing over 1700 hp. Ferrari has even made a few 1.5 liter v-12's which post equally ridiculous numbers. I think there is no replacement for good engineering.
