rod knock???

hey ..recently ive noticed my 2003 g35 coupe to be making some engine noise that is pretty loud..uses about a quart of oil per 1000miles..so last week the oil light came on while driving home.(only when i stopped at stop signs)..right after the car started making more and more noise and before i could grab another quart or 2 of oil its stalled and everything turned off and wouldnt start back up..finally after a friend jumped me and lots of slow cranking I made it home.
so I call roadside assistance today to come tow it from my house.then the dealership calls me and said.1) i need a battery.2)my y-pipe is leaking and its goin to cost 550$ and not under warranty 3)all my belts were shreading which i think is bs cuz i just hand checked them...
so i told them to just replace the belts(my friend has and extra y-pipe and i had a new battery at home).
half way home the rod knock noise comes back and the car stalls out and shuts off.
i then connected jumper cables and jumped the car let it run and the whole time it was running really bad.
Has anyone else had this problem?or have any advise?
my oil level is fine and i dont beat on the car btw

you really shouldnt have driven AT ALL when the oil light came on, you might've done some really bad damage, bent rods, etc

the oil light won't come on if you're a quart low, you mustve been running with very little oil

sounds like a spun bearing, not having oil caused excess friction somewhere, could be a couple of things

oil light

Once an oil light comes on or even flickers might be equivilent to "abandon ship". No one should drive a car unless to get to the side of the road when the light comes on. If shutting your car down at that very moment would have changed things is too late to know. Internal damage to any elements of the lower end or even upper end these days amount to big bucks. Good luck and hopefully, some warranty can come into play (have not read all the posts to know).

I'm glad your getting another one for free. I destroyed the engine in my first car because I thought the knocking just meant there was a loose bolt or something and I could check it in a couple of days. I had no idea that it needed oil. From there I researched cars extensively, and I can tell you, anytime a car has a consistent knock, stop driving. Something is seriously wrong with the engine.

Did the guy tell you what was wrong with the motor?
