O.K., so I usually don't race, but....
This Silver STi rolled up on me last night after I left the San Diego get together. I usually don't race around too much, but I wanted to see what his car could do. He pulled ahead of me and I dropped into 5th. I started pulling on him and passed as I shifted to 6th. Needless to say I got into the triple digits and he wasn't pulling on me. We did this a couple of more times with the same results, I then pulled off at the next exit because I was getting concerned that the CHP might be around. I don't know if this guy wasn't pushing all the way, or if maybe he didn't know how to drive that thing, but it was fun for short while. Usually I'll play around a little at intersections or pop up to 90 on the freeway, but sometimes you have to try it.

Re: O.K., so I usually don't race, but....
Hm, those STIs are insanely quick so I doubt he was going at it completely....I think though that they are quicker off the line than they are at high speeds (rally car) so maybe that added to it. I know our cars are pretty damn fast in the high speed ranges, but either way, nice job.
Re: O.K., so I usually don't race, but....
Yeah, I also forgot to mention that I have an intake, Stillen dual exhaust, light flywheel and pullies. So that probably helped at the higher speeds.

Re: O.K., so I usually don't race, but....
the Evo and STI are geared more for lower speeds than higher speeds so at triple digits, I guess it would make sense. Nice kill I suppose.

wtf, I don't know about you, but if I were in triple digits I certainly hope I wasn't in 4th gear!

4th gear in the G should be good for ~ 109 mph. I assume this race started a lot closer to a legal speed limit (ie ~70 mph). I know if I wanted to stand a chance against a properly driven STI I'd want to be at 4K in 4th approaching the torque peak at a 1.271 ratio and not at 3K in 5th out of the powerband of the car at 1:1 ratio...
Re: O.K., so I usually don't race, but....
I originally started in fifth because I wasn't sure if I was going to race this guy or not. It was a slow acceleration, and he pulled away at first. The other two times we where closer to around 100. I know I could've started in 4th, but I ended up not needing to. I mean I thought this guy would walk away from me, so I wasn't trying to push too hard at first. Then I thought he was trying to bait me after the first run. Oh yeah, and Big, I have'nt even had a new dyno run (originally dyno'd at 251.7 RWHP w/intake & exhaust.) since the flywheel and pullies where installed, much less any runs. I usually don't have that much extra time.
