Re: Damn cops profilin the [censored] outta me today

Man, I never broke 65 on the way to work today...first time I rode the right lane literally all 25 miles to work. The g's a lil upset she never saw above 3000 rpms this morning. =( Went by a cop in the EXACT same spot I got nabbed yesterday morning, guess its just that time of the month. Already called up the court, pleaded not guilty and had the date moved up 2 weeks. Ill call my laywer in about 30 minutes while I'm on lunch break. Thanks to all for the great suggestions and advice and thank you all for dealin with my b!tchin. I'm really to the point where I can't wait to go to AZ in December for driving school...comin home with a SCCA license hopefully, and god I can't wait to get the G out on the track. Driving it on the road every day really makes you wonder why we can't have some sick highway like the autobahn in this country...oh well....one day. Ill let you guys know what happens in court. I have no dmv points, no insurance points and only one true moving violation on my record so hopefully, the judge will be nice to me.

Re: Damn cops profilin the [censored] outta me today

here in california, if you go to court, you waive your right to traffic school. also, if you had to take time off of work to go to court, would it be worth it? because you may be waiting in court until it's your turn for hours.

either way, i have to agree....when you get caught, it's not always racism or profiling!!! you were speeding, bottomline. so what if other cars may have been going faster. going 70 on a bridge that only allows 55 is asking for it. you figure that there was only one cop with several cars speeding. he had to pull over one car and that car happened to be you. take the punishment and get over it.

now if you were not speeding and happened to be in a rich neighbor and were black, hispanic, etc. and got pulled over for no apparent reason, then call racism. if not, don't play the race-card or profiling mumbo-jumbo.

Re: Damn cops profilin the [censored] outta me today

everybody knows that east brunswick and marlboro cops harass. espescially if you are DWM (Driving While a Minority). cops look for the easiest target and thats who they pull over. this ticket thing is just a scam set up by the township to make money. forget about protect to serve. the new slogan is ticket to get paid. all you can really do is plead not guilty, go to court, and plead to a lesser no points charge. just pay the fine and be on your way. they can reschedule the court date up to 3 times, so if you show up in court and the cop doesnt, you got to go back 2 more times. who has the time for all that. i was pulled over at 2 am for yielding at about 5 mph rather than coming to a complete stop. the cop was on the other side of the road split by a divider. this cop drove about a mile in reverse on a one way to pull me over. now, at 2 am, going 5 mph, when there is no car in sight for miles, who am i gonna hurt. the townships wallet, thats who. im just glad our hard earned taxable dollars go towards having cops harrass me. i just wish we could choose how our tax money is spent.

Maybe you should consider paying more attention to speed limits. Just recommendation considering how many tickets you had.

God damn...perfectly said. Im originally from marlboro and the cops are poop heads. I went to school with half of them for christs sake. To the older crowd here who has told me to quit whining.....go back to being 20....drive around a flashy car....and see how fun the cops are, then you'll understand why I'm miffed. Oh yeah, and as it is, the G, my rent and my insurance have been killin me latley, and another few hundred dollars is far from what I can afford right now. I guess you really can't understand what I'm talking about unless your either a) in the car with me or b) behind me. My own mother wouldnt believe what I would say about how cops constantly nab me for nothing. I have a cop turn around infront of traffic, cut off my mother, and ride my *** for 2 miles until he finally pulled me over. For what? A spot check. Yes, he wanted to see if I "really had a license" Cops have to much damn time on their hands, oh yeah and that was a marlboro cop.

Re: Damn cops profilin the [censored] outta me today

Nah, EX, you got it wrong. Some of us have actually BEEN 20 before AND had a cool car. And you know what a few extra years beyond 20 teaches ya? If you drive a cool car, or one that's highly visible (how about dual white stripes the entire length of the 2 door coupe, 380 horses car---sort of like a "neon billboard: on wheels...), you are playin' the game.

And what is the game? I'm cool, I got the wheels, the wheels and me is very easy to spot, and I'm gonna do some "stuff". The question is: am I gonna get caught? All the time, some of the time, maybe only once, if I'm lucky.

You was unlucky; you got caught. I've been there. And anyone lucky enough to have had a great or "neon billboard" car knows what you're talkin' about. So do I. But it's the game, and you either play it, and pay it, or drive it like you're 80 years old.

Your choice, man. But don't blame the cops; it's you and the car. If you were drivin' a 15 year old, beat up old something, you really think they'd give a squat about you? Puh-leeze.

Re: Damn cops profilin the [censored] outta me today

so u guys really believe that its the car but not because he was just going fast in general? so if a 15 year old car which happened to do 75 on a 55 road and the cop "wouldn't give a squat" and not pull them over?

Re: Damn cops profilin the [censored] outta me today

tak, sometimes they don't man. that's why I call it the game.

think as a cop for a minute: you got a trail of cars all goin' 20 over. last guy in line's a 15 year old, wheezin', 4 cyl, barely able to keep up. next car up is a red porsche. whatcha gonna do?

why bag the poor sob in the 4 cyl? go grab buckaronis in his "guards red" porsche. why not?

human nature, m'man. human nature.

even if it was a lone, car all by itself. cop sees a red 'vette speedin'---ticket. 15 year-old pos, speedin--- ticket? well, maybe and maybe not. no great luv in givin' that one a tick. back at the hq: hey guys, I gave this 15 year-old, 4 cyl. pos. a 20-mile-over ticket! oh wow, what a man! nah, i don't think so.

get the pic?

Re: Damn cops profilin the [censored] outta me today

Oh believe me, I was absolutely wrong for speeding, Im just pissed I got hit out of 6 people when I wasnt even the one who was speeding up the left lane and passing everyone. As for the game...yes....my truck was black, silver stripes down the whole thing 5% tint around and no front license plate. Believe me, the "game" as you call it was an every day event. Now that I got the G, I've calmed down driving alot, and I drive this car much much slower than I ever drove my truck. If I had gotten hit, alone, open road, no one around me, then yes, I'd take the ticket and call myself an [censored] for speeding. I was 20 feet from the 65 zone....so in 20 feet I would have only been doing 6 over. Now do you see why I'm buggin out so much.......

i guess i see what you're saying..to me...if i am a cop...to be perfectly honest...i would just be consistant and pick on the same person everytime (for example..always pick on the leader..or last guy in the pack)

Re: Damn cops profilin the [censored] outta me today

Well if it makes you (or anyone else here) feel better, I got nabbed today for 63 in a 45--first ticket in the G, but 2nd in last 9 months (never got any that close together before; just had a lawyer fight the last one and got no points [it was only 9 mph over that time] but had to pay court costs and the lawyer). What sux is that it was a 6-lane road (w/ median) with no other cars around and I was just driving at a comfortable, safe speed when, as I got to the top of this overpass, I immediately see a cop at the bottom of the hill and immediately brake down to 50 (d*mn radar/laser detector picked up nothing!?), but he must have had some new sort of instant-on gun because I saw him and reacted the moment I came over that little hill. The funny thing is, this is the first time in the 5+ years I've driven that stretch of road that I've ever seen a cop patrolling it. To make matters worse, my registration was 10 days expired (b*stards never mailed me a renewal notice like they're supposed to!)--'never crossed my mind until now, so I got cited for that too...

Not sure if I should fight this one too or just do traffic school again (did it a couple years ago for a worse ticket in my old car). Any suggestions? These d*** speed limits are just too low; it's definitely a gov't scam to get more money from speeding tickets. Nobody goes 45 along that stretch of road--there's no lights for almost 2 miles; anyone could safely drive at least 60 (if not 70) through it any time. I may speed, but never dangerously. As Sammy sings, "I can't drive...55!" I wish the cops could just friggin' focus their efforts on the really BAD drivers around here that cut everybody off and don't use their turn signals (I feel like one of 5 people in the whole county that actually signals when changing lanes)--the clueless ones that don't deserve to be behind the wheel of a car in the first place; there are so many I have to dodge around here every day, it's not funny. Oi!

Sorry to hear but I am positive its not a scam, those speed limits are there for your safety and others. You got unlucky and got tagged. Just be more careful next time

Re: Damn cops profilin the [censored] outta me today

I was being careful, thank you very much! I was in no danger of hurting myself or others... My theory is simple: if the speed limits were reasonable, most people would not have a problem obeying them; but if that were the case, the cops would have less tickets to write and the cities and state would have less money coming in. I guess it's just one of those "necessary evils." The bottom line for me is that I honestly feel the cops need to be targeting the "real" dangerous drivers out there that actually cut people off, run lights 2 seconds after they go red, don't signal, etc. You're just not going to find much of that on less-busy, open roads like the area where the cop that tagged me was hiding. There is a busy area about 1.5 miles further down the road where there is ALWAYS an accident waiting to happen, but I never see cops sitting over there pulling people over for those more dangerous moving violations. All I can say is "HELLO! Put the cops where they are needed, already!"

Re: Damn cops profilin the [censored] outta me today

i hear you man..i always see some freaking truck driving maniac doing some crazy stuff...going like 120 when everyone else was doing 70....and i always hoped that a cop would show up somewhere...but never....

and then i always see some cop pops up from nowhere and pick a car out of the whole pack of people who are going 75....i mean..i dun see any "danger" there...when they are all travelling the same speed...american freeways are designed for a MUCH FASTER speed than posted

Re: Damn cops profilin the [censored] outta me today

I think speed limits are fine. You think they're slow because you're only thinking about yourself. Don't be so naive. There's a large handful of people out there who don't have insurance or licenses or the skills to be driving at the current speed limits causing accidents everyday, so I don't think we need it to be any higher than it is. If all drivers were more qualified, I'd be the first one to jump on the "up-the-speed-limit" bandwagon, but with so many idiots on the road, I think speed limits were determined with safety in mind and I don't see your X-files theories being true.

Frankly, I'm also partially glad that gas prices are going up. I'm sure most of those idiots in their old as* cars and no insurance will be less likely to be driving anymore. If you can't afford insurance, you can't afford to drive. Simple as that.
